Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I also was looking for that picture perfect yorkie but found that every dog, regardless of standards, is perfect in their own way. The best way to choose a dog is to follow your heart, if the rescue is tugging your heart his way then go for it, every dog needs a good home regardless! I myself prefer to help a dog that needs it rather than find what society labels a picture perfect dog, but everyone has different preferences. Follow your heart!

| ![]() Don't forget that with a rescue not only looks may be different but you never know what kind of life they had. I call my house the island of misfit toys. One has 1 ear up 1 ear down, One has her tail, the other is over 10 lbs. But with all the faults I love them even more. But a rescue is not for everyone my Ivy(puppy mill dog) that I have had now almost 2 years still is soooo shy she would not be happy with alot of people and alot of people would not like her. Best of luck. ![]()

| ![]() I adopted a rescue pupster named George about five years ago. I completed an application to adopt and was interested in another yorkie, but he was not quite ready for adoption. George's foster mom spoke with me at length asking me what I liked about yorkies...and all about how I live, etc. She then suggested George....and I agreed to adopt him sight unseen. I put my trust in her and oh my gosh has it worked out well. George was the perfect fit from day one. What is interesting about this story is that it was not looks that I was after...it was the yorkie personality. I love the stubborn streak...all of the things that endear us to this breed. I loved him from day one for who he was....interestingly, he turned into quite the gorgeous little yorkie. Here are before and after pics of my Georgie: www.ladyjane.net/george My point is that no matter how a pup looks, they each have their own personalities. What I think is great about rescue is that you can pretty much get what fits best in your life. Nothing against purchasing a puppy....I just am sold on rescues myself. Each one that I have adopted has known that he/she was given a second chance and they all make lovely companions!

| ![]() Well, I was supposed to visit him after his neuter this past week..and I never got an update on his surgery. I found out this morning that he was adopted out to a volunteer. They did not even let me know. I was under the assumption that after his recovery that I would get to visit. My application was approved and the foster mom said that he was gorgeous and we sounded like the perfect home for him..I am so glad that I did not let my boys know..they would have been crushed!! I am happy that he found a home but I am not happy about the way this adoption handled it...So, I will move forward! Thanks everyone for your wonderful stories.. |

| ![]() I adopted an older female 5yrs. old and she is really coming around. When I first brought her home, she was trembling all the time and would hide from us. I have had her about 7 months now and she follows me everywhere and loves to cuddle. She won't play with toys, is still a little nervous and is a little afraid of people, but she is coming around because I take her for walks where there are lots of people and dogs all the time. I think older rescue dogs take more time, but they really, really need the love and I am so glad now I gave her a home because she is such a sweet heart and I can't imagine live without her. Her name is Patti and you can see pics of her on my page. LB ![]() |

Yorkie Talker | ![]() When we bought our Chorkie, Bobbi from a breeder who had used and abused her, using her as a breeding machine, she was very quiet and just wanted to sit on my knee. We found that she didn't know how to play but she soon came around and loves to chase a ball and plays now with her little adopted sister. She is still 'funny' with men and any male stangers who enter our house, beware, cos she can snap at their ankles. She loves children and everyone who gets to know her get covered in kisses. She isn't the most beautiful dog, she's chubby and her fur is coarse but we love her, and she's not having any more boyfriends. Hehe !!! |

| ![]() I like the get both idea - that's what I did! My Oliver is a puppy mill rescue - over 10 pounds, big floppy ears, and a few issues that we are working on (Scared of men, I am 1000% sure that he was abused by the hands of a man). We get Oliver's sister on April 2nd - A cute as a button girl from a great breeder. I've never regretted my decision for one second. Rescue's are not always easy... but they know you saved them, and they love you all that much more for it.
