I am really happy to hear that you are happy! I totally believe things are meant to happen the way they do..Thank you for your story!

Actually, it's wonderful!...I have one little show-type yorkie, and one that is not so much show type...I love them equally...They are as different as day and night, from gender, to personality, size, color, disposition, independance (one is cuddly, one is not) appetite, potty habits (one in one out), one's hyper, one's a couch potatoe, one is aggressive, one is passive...It's the most amazing combination on the planet...I am sooooooo lucky...I highly recommend it...

When we think of a getting a Yorkie, we all have that fantasy of that cute baby doll face with a short nose and perky little ears and cute little body. But what happens when you decide to adopt a yorkie and it has the opposite of all those traits? That is my dilemma now. I am at a crossroad. I love the picture perfect yorkies we all see in those magazines that make our hearts melt..but than there are those sweet little or big yorkies that the breeder didn't want or couldn't sell. The yorkie I am about to meet from a rescue is 7lbs at 6months, has large floppy ears, undocked tail, and may be a parti..but not sure. He has the sweetest face but is not what I was looking for. But I can't stop thinking about him. I am at a place now where I can afford to get that baby-faced yorkie..but am wondering if I should give up my fantasy for now and rescue? Has anyone adopted a puppy mill rescue or breeder surrender and has no regrets? Thanks!! sorry for such a long thread..
I saw your thread and had to respond. If you look at the little angel sitting on the pink bear that is our baby Rizzo who passed away in Dec. 2008. She was a puppy mill rescue from Ark. I have been around dogs all my life and can say she was one of the most loving gentle souls I have ever met.
Who she was in looks and personality when we got her and what she BECAME from love and nurturing was incredible. We miss her every day They take these puppy mill dogs out and shoot them in the head when they are no good for breeding.
After her passing we adopted a yorkie that is 11lbs has floppy ears and does not look like the typical cutsie yorkie but we love her her personality and would not trade her for anything.
Cuddled up to me right now as I write this is Rocco a shelter rescue that has been with me for only 2 weeks. He was a stray, matted, stinky and a hot mess. He is so handsome now only 2 weeks later, sweet just a love. I am fostering him until he is placed from ytnr. He gives me yorkie kisses every day he is so grateful to be in a nice warm home where he is loved and a nice warm bed to sleep with his foster siblings and foster mommy & daddy.
If you could open your heart to a yorkie that needs you and needs to rescued that is my vote.

There was just something about Daisy that made my 19 yr old daughter pick her. I never owned a small dog in my life.

When my daughter moved to NC to be with her boyfriend (now husband) i she left Daisy with us and I will tell you she has been the love of our lives. She is a very sweet loving dog.
Now 6 yrs later we got ourselves a Yorkie. I really think I will always have small dogs in the house thanks to Daisy and her sweetness.
So go to the rescue and see if there is a connection if there is and you adopt you will be forever blessed!!
Love this story..Thank you

I say rescue ...I adopted my 2 baby girls from a rescue and they have changed my life...I couldn't love them more. I also wanted to get that cute little puppy BUT I felt the need to help out a beautiful little rescue girl that I couldn't get off my mind I couldn't even sleep for thinking about her...so I adopted her and she seemed to be very lonely (so I thought) then 5 weeks later I adopted her a sister. They are the most precious girls in the world to me. I got Sophie 2/28/09 and Hayley 04/06/09 it's been an amazing year. They said Sophie was dropped off in an overnight drop box, nasty and loaded with fleas and scared to death (who wouldn't be). She is fine with me but still reserved with everyone else. She doesn't really play just likes to be by herself most of the time. Sophie is about 3 yrs old they think; no history or anything. Hayley is a little love; about 5 yrs old she also has no history.

Hi! Well from looking at your avatar they are gorgeous! They do not look like they were sheltered at all. Actually the rescue group has some very pretty mommy yorkies. Very pretty and petiite. But were in wire cages most of their lives and are very timid. I have a son who is a gentle 7 yr. old and also a 15yr.old son too! The rescue does not adopt out to homes with children under 10. I would love to have one of the mommies too! but it may not be a good fit. I will have to go with my gut!..Thank you for rescuing..you have some real beauties!

Yes. they are gorgeous...I know they don't like to adopt out if you have small children. Just follow your heart and do what is best for your family and the little furbaby.

I bought my Chorkie Bobbi from someone who had bred from her from a very early age and then they wanted rid of her. She was dirty, physically she was worn out, so when I saw her I bought her straight away, to get her away from that awful situation. She was 3 when we got her and now she's 5 she has a lovely home and a little friend, who is a Jack yorkie and they play together great. We rescued our other dogs but I always feel like although we paid for her it was still a rescue.

Both of mine are rescues. I adopted Max, my yorkiepoo last year and Lily the yorkie about a week or so ago. Somehow I think they know that I rescued them. Its too early to tell with Lily, but Max is so loveable...he is the sweetest thing ever. Lily can't help but be sweet, she's a 6 month old playful little puppy. There is no feeling like knowing you rescued them from who knows what.
