I am still waiting to hear back from her. I did give her Yoshi microchip number. So I dunno.

Oh Mary I am convinced this is him.. My breeder told me that her vet told her that sometimes when a dog is microchipped, if the right scanner is not used to scan them, then it will not pick up the chip. Also, that it was easy for people to unregister and reregister dogs that they steal..We just discussed this last week since a dog she sold was stolen from the owner..Anyways, there is still hope. Remember when I called that lady back that called you and told you she thought Yoshi was dead on the side of the road and my husband called your Police Dept and asked someone to go knock on her door? Well she might have been the one to steal him and then got scared so she sold him or gave him to someone who moved to CA.. Or she could have sold him and shipped him there..You never know but it is not impossible that it is him....I don't know about microchips but if you microchipped him with one company and someone stole him, could they microchip him again with another company and yours not pick up? Or if they reregister him in their name, do they get a new microchip number?

Mary, a glimmer of hope... I never registerd my Mia because I got her at Petland and they wanted to charge me an extra $35.00 for the paperwork after all the BS I went through with them BUT her microchip # showed up at my vet's and has been on her paperwork since we got her. So, I'm not sure it has to be registerd as long as they can get the # off the scan. :thumbup: I hope this is your Yoshi. Good Luck!

You can go sill online and register them with the chip company. I think that it costs about $20:)

Mary, I really hope that it is him, the two look so much alike.:xfingers:

Oh my goodness they do look alike and I would be the first to tell you they didn't. You're right to not get your hopes up yet though. I will pray for you. My heart is beating so fast hoping it is him!!!!! Please keep us updated the minute you hear from the foster mom!!!! xxxxxx

They do look very similar but my one big question would be how did he get from KS to Southern CA? :confused: Also, did you see the thread yesterday that this little guy is aggressive? Is Yoshi aggressive toward other dogs? I so hope this is him but I truly have my doubts. :(

I don't think the ears are the same either. If Yoshi has been missing for a over a year & not been happy, he could turn aggressive? I have doubts also that it is him, but would do everything I could to find out. Hope it is your Yoshi.

The dog could have been transported to Southern CA by a person who found him in Kansas. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility.

The aggression may be something that developed in response to experiences of the past year.

The resemblance is striking! Mary, I hope you do have a miracle and get Yoshi back!

yes i did see that and i also mention that in that thread that Yoshi had no agression at all...he never once barked when i had him almost 2 years....but then someone said no telling what he has been through or what he has endure the last year since he has gone missing...and that could have change his personality also!

just to let everyone know...i am not getting my hopes up...but if there is a question about something that deals with Yoshi I will be the first to point it out...because there is still the slight chance out there....maybe not much but given any situation there is still a possibility....and i will not give up until i have closure on what happen that day or whenever to him....unless a body has been found or microchip has been picked up...then i will continue my search for him...

Not to jump the gun or anything but if it is Yoshi and you need help with transportation I am in California and would be happy to help however I can including drive wherever to start a transportaion train......I know the offer is early but I just have such high hopes that it is him.....:D

I was not a member when he went missing but I looked at the pictures and it does look like him. It gave me chills, I sure hope it is him what a wonderful gift if it is. To be reunited with his mommy:) I am sending prayers your way.

Having looked at a few dogs that we thought were Cookie and seeing small differences, I have to say that I don't see differences in the dogs in the photos. The absolute way to know is the chip and I really hope it's Yoshi!

To those who have their dogs chipped, please password protect the registry data. This prevents someone from changing it or un-registering him/her. If you've lost one, keep paying the yearly fee if there is one so it will show as yours if someday found.

I think this deserves a candle along with those for Cookie.

I guess I am confused and have question now concerning microchips...when i go to petlinks where i registered him the first day i got him chip it still pulls up his info and states that he is lost....so with that being said...could someone still unregistered him and such. I can understand another chip being place but that should not overwrite the one that is already in him...or is there a way to take the old chip out? if so then microchips are pointless in such events they get lost or stolen...

It's extremely difficult to find/remove/ or destroy a chip. I read as much as I could when Cookie went missing.

Just thinking, he might also have been registered with another company. Only a few share data. See AKCCAR for a link to several that are participating in a common database.

Genie put a password on her chip data so that NO ONE but Genie can change the data. You might want to check into that. If it shows as missing, no one has changed it in an attempt to sell him.

Sometimes they're picked up and just plain kept because the finder always wanted a Yorkie but couldn't afford it. Not all go missing because they're a quick money sell.
