| ![]() I agree, your pup is lonely. Does your bf not want her upstairs because she's a "dog" and is dirty? I only ask because my mom is of that mindset. She didn't want him here to begin with (we didn't live with my parents when I first got him). But to keep my mom happy and make sure Kaji is also comfortable, I take on a few extra cleaning steps. Those are: -weekly baths -puppy wipes, I wipe his Mr Peeper after every pee brake he takes, and wipe his feet every night. -If his aim is off that day, I give his belly a quick wash (a little soap, warm water and a towel dry) -Basic obedience. Just having him listen and really know where it is ok to potty made a huge difference in my mom's attitude toward him. He goes all by himself! It made a huge difference for my mom that she holds him now and even lets him sleep in her bed!! Just a thought. ![]()

| ![]() Don't do anything that you aren't willing or able to do forever. Someone once gave me that advice about dogs and its so true. She must do it after 6 months because she knows it gets you down there. I can see the majority here are well trained by their yorkies...lol You must either stick to your guns or bring her bed closer to you- if she is not barking to relieve herself then she is just doing it to get you down there and its working for her. You say she is 3--what were here previous sleeping cirumstances? Maybe she slept with people before you. |

| ![]() Maybe you should move her bed in your room. My husband and I got Kona when she was 7 years old. The people we got her from said she would sleep in her crate in the kitchen at night. Well for the first 2 weeks it worked out great then she decided to start barking about 3:00 am and go on and on. We tried to ignore it but it was hard. I took her to my parent's house and there was no way I was going to have her in the crate in their kitchen and start barking at 3 in the morning so I put the crate in my room with me. Problem solved. When I got home I told my husband we were going to put the crate in our room. She has not barked at night since and now she sleeps in a bed on the floor on the side of our bed, she only sleeps in the crate when we travel.

| ![]() Thanks for the advice. Our trainer told us the same thing about moving her crate into our room. My boyfriend says he doesn't want her to think she can just wander around upstairs (upstairs is carpeted). I admit, I would like to at least give it a try and see if it helps, but I don't want to have an issue with the boyfriend. *sigh* ![]()

Donating YT 11K Club Member | ![]() I wouldn't be able to stand it either. Not at 4 in the a.m. You need to put your foot down and every time she barks make a loud noise and say a firm NO! She should get it. I have 4 and none are barkers...but that's not to say they wouldn't be. As soon as one started to bark when they were younger i did just that and they only bark when the doorbell rings and that's fine with me. Livie barks a little more than the others but I am working on her with that. If you let them keep doing it they will. I have a friend who's yorkie barks nonstop! Whenever I go over it's sooo annoying but then again they never correct it. The family is loud in general so maybe it takes after them.

| ![]() My husband said that our doggies were not going to sleep with us in the bed. Once that sweet YT curled up with him, his heart melted away! lol |

| ![]() Our Yorkie has her crate right beside our bed raised somewhat as the floor is cold. However; when she is in bed with us early in the morning my DH calls that safe sex.

| ![]() This makes me sad. Your pup wants you. Dogs are pack animals and you are her pack!! We did this (had him sleep in another room) with Snick the 1st 2 weeks he came home....I still feel guilty about it, I feel like I tortured my lil babyboy being all alone!! I hate thinking about it. If she is trained, why does it matter if she is upstairs? Would it be ok to put her bed on your bedroom floor? Snick's been in our bed for about a year now after he was potty trained and now he is liking his alone time in his bed that is raised and next to our bed. He can jump up to sleep with us anytime and usually does in the middle of the night. But now since he starts out in his own bed, we all have our own space. I would suggest you try asking your BF to ATLEAST let her sleep on the floor in your room. You will all have a good nights rest now and forvever!!!! Good Luck- Snick & Viv

| ![]() Last night she barked at 3 am. Boyfriend wasn't here, so I put her crate in my room next to my bed. She barked even louder. I let her come up on the bed with me and all she did was run around and lick my face for an hour until she figured out how to jump down. *sigh* I want to cry. I just want to get a decent night's sleep. ![]()
