I can't stand the barking anymore! Roxie barks every morning at 4:00 on the button. She continues to bark for 30-60 minutes. She barked when we put her in her crate. She barked when we put her in her ex-pen. This morning she decided 2:15 was a better time to start barking. We're losing sleep every night and it's miserable. What should we do? Would it stop if she wasn't contained overnight? I know she is just lonely because as soon as I come down and let her out she goes to sleep on top of me. |
I think u may have hit the nail on the head. She wants you. Do u have a problem with her sleeping with you? If not..let her. I bet she (and you) will have a peaceful nights sleep. |
My boyfriend is dead set against her sleeping with us. Roxie doesn't even go upstairs (where the bedrooms are)...I don't know why, but she's never even tried. |

Hope you can get some solutions..(and sleep)! |
How long has this been going on. If you ignore her she will learn that no one is going to come when she barks and eventually she will stop. If you react, then she's got you. Is she a puppy, did you just get her? |
It's very early so I thought I'd reply - ask your boyfriend if she can sleep in your room (if you're crate training) - then maybe the barking will stop....she's just lonely. I tried the playpen thing with my youngest and she screamed her fool head off - I caved and she ended up right next to me and never made a peep again BUT - you have to be a very light sleeper to do this and I don't recommend it....I think I slept in the exact same position for 3 months :) These little guys are so much different than regular size dogs aren't they ? |

Cheri perches above me on 2 pillows I set up. Once I 'tuck' her in - she's down for the night and never moves. |
I went through this when Piper was about 5 months old. Piper slept in the kitchen in her x-pen at night. My problem was my son who was home from college for the summer was up all night. He and his friends hung out all summer in our family room downstairs going in and out of the kitchen all night long. Everytime Piper saw or heard anybody she wanted out of the pen to play. Sometimes my son took her downstairs with them and when Piper was brought back upstairs the barking and crying would start. I would complain to my son can't you hang out at somebody's elses house once in a while. Which he replied that nobody elses parents wanted them over late at night. I wonder why. So rather then having my son and friends hanging out on the streets at night I decided to let Piper sleep with me at night. Best decision I ever made. From the first night I brought her to bed she curls in a ball next to me and falls right to sleep. You don't hear a peep from her all night long and is perfectly content to stay in bed until I'm ready to get up. Letting your baby be with you in your bedroom will probably end the barking problem. |
If all else fails get a new boyfriend.....jk..:D |

LOLOL!!! I was thinking the same thing. But seriously though we know you want to keep your boyfriend. She is lonely and sleeping with you will cut that barking out. Yorkies are not like other dog breeds. They need to be with their owners and that means nighty night time too. If not in the bed with you at least in the bedroom placed in a play pen :) or (heaven help me) crate. I'm not a crate fan  My baby sleeps with me and she has her own side of the bed and small pink blanket that she has become very possessive over. If I slighty move it she flips out and pushes it the way she wants it...LOL But she curls up on it after kissing me goodnight...EVERY NIGHT...and we both sleep peacefully. She's even begun to fuss at me by 9:30 in the evenings to let me know it's bedtime. |

LOL I crack up laughing when she does it, but I'm so grateful because I need to go to bed and rest too. Especially during the work week. I have a terrible habit of staying up too late sometimes. |
This has been going on off and on since we got her...6 months ago. She is 3 and fully trained, so we're not crate training her. She stopped for a little while about 2 months ago, but it has since started up again. I don't always go down and let her out, but she will continue to bark for an hour straight if I don't. |
I couldn't stand it. It would be in bed with me in a heart beat. I have always let my dogs sleep with me so never had them carry on in the middle of the night unless they had to go potty. We got our little guy when he was 8 weeks old and he has always slept with us. |
