| When I was contemplating bringing home another puppy I didnt tell anyone but my husband what he was going to cost. Its not anyone elses business and you have to decide for yourself if its worth spending. I am sure if my dad only knew what I spent he wouldnt be talking to me either. Good luck to you and keep us posted! I hope he finds his home with you!

He was with me when I picked up Bella and while he had come to terms with the price.....he was still leary, I am sure...if he knew what I paid for Shay, he would have a heart attack (after the strangling, of coarse..lol)

| I totally know what you mean about controlling issues. My mom is the same way. She doesn't have a clue what I gave for my furbabies. Frankly, it is none of here business. If that is the furbaby you want go for it girl

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | you are not crazy, I would have paid just as much for my puppy if I bought him... he's a cutie pie though... I say if she still has him by Satruday (wich I hope she does) then go for it... Good luck!

| Just bring him home...as you mentioned, you don't spend money on snowmobile, everyone has their own "love". Getting a puppy from puppymill might be cheaper but we can foresee the vet bills are coming! ![]() Ask your brother to join YT! He might not want a snowmobile anymore hahaa! ![]() By the way...when I brought Sugar home, I told my mum it was half the price, didn't tell her the truth...not until she fell for Sugar too!!

| Thank you all for your responses! I am feeling better about it now. I pretty much HAD to tell my mom and dad the cost, as they are coming with me to get him if he's still available (it's a 4 hour drive one way)... and mom has a big mouth, so the whole family already knows.. BUT... I'm refusing to take any more BS from them. I work full time, pay my bills, just got signed on permanently to my DREAM job and this is my way to go gift to myself. I've worked my butt off for 2 years getting through school, and now paying off school. I deserve it. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I do gamble (haha) but funny enough in my family spending $300 in one night at a casino is ok, but spending $1100 on a dog that will love you for it's whole lifetime is not.. makes no sense. If he is still available on Saturday, he is MINE. Only thing that would change that is if when we got there, him and Oliver fought like crazy. Can't see it as Oliver loves any and all dogs, and this dog is used to other males being around. We shall see. I'm tentatively booking next week off work, and hoping it all works out! His name is Adonis, which apparently means god of love. Not sure if I'd keep the name or not, it sure is different!

I think people need to really understand it's not just the price to purchase a Yorkie, there are life long expenses that you need to factor in! Best of luck with your decision!

| He's a doll! I wouldn't worry what anyone else things, it's your money, spend it on whatever you like, and you couldn't ask for a better investment then a yorkie, you get pure love in return!

| Jenn, I am with you!!! I joined here to look for a yorkie to call my own. About 5 years ago I rescued one from the shelter, he's a doll and living with my parents who adore him. My mom is home ALL the time and he needs someone home with him. I did think about doing the shelter thing again but found a lovely woman on this forum with 2 little girls who need a forever home. It will be more expensive than a shelter dog but I feel it's the right price to pay for a healthy, well adjusted, loved dog. On a whim I stopped in a pet store that had a cute yorkie in the window. He told me they start at $3200 but that one was $1800 because he was 4 months old. My heart tightened as I worry what happens if he reaches 5 or 6 and is not sold? It just breaks my heart to see them in the windows. You have every right to spend your money on what you want. I like you thought about this and searched out the right way to spend my money. I haven't told anyone in my family what I will be paying since it is none of their business. I am sure it will come up and I will make up some lowball number since it doesn't matter. I do hope he is there for you Saturday! Good Luck!!!!!! |

| sweetie, it will make you happy so do it its easier to ask forgiveness the permission i live by this motto and just tell then its over a thousand now on a helthy dog or over 8 thousand next year when the $200 dog gets sick or hurt or has to have surgery really when you think of it that way its a no brainer

| I say go for it. You really don't have to answer to anyone, it's your money. You did your homework, your comfortable with the breeder and could he be any cuter? I don't think so. Once this little one is in your home everyone will be fighting over who get's to hold it. Guaranteed. I see nothing wrong with this amount of money for a healthy pup. Enjoy and good luck. |
