| Dogs Not On A Leash! URRRRRRRR! i walk my dogs occasionally through my neighborhood and in the park. The park is conviniently located across from my house about a minute away. Well I respect all pet owners equally but in my dictionary all owners must have their pets on a leash not ifs ands or buts about it. i am sick of walking my dogs and people have their huge dogs loose weather it is because they are playing with them or because they won't hurt anyone, Just Put Them On A Leash. I feel violated in my time and my dogs time when I have to stop or cross to another street because a bigger dog is loose, or any dog for that matter. I have been tempted a few times to call the cops to give these people a wake up call so that they can lets us the ones with dogs on a leash walk them at piece. I can't stan this. |

| I have to agree with you on that one. It doesn't happen anymore, but in past years when I'd have Muffin outside the fenced yard (always on leash though) walking around the yard then every once in awhile here comes someone else's big dog and in my own yard I have to pick up my doggie to keep her safe. And of course to keep her from attacking the big dog! Then there was the occasional pest that would come into our yard (we have an acre) and up to her fence and drive her nuts!

| You are totally right. There is a lady who lives two doors down from us that used to let her dogs outside off leash while she watched from the living room. One of them bit my boyfriend on the leg. It happened several times, and I felt bad about ratting her out, but I called the management and they fined her. She gives us dirty looks now, but at least my bf doesn't have to run from the car to our door. She hasn't had them off leash that we've seen since. |

| We have the same problem with a neighbor of ours. They have two dogs and they "try" to keep one tied to no avail. It lasts about a day maybe. The other one, they just don't bother. We don't have a fenced in yard and we have to really watch when we let Ciera out to potty because they will actually run over in our yard barking and growling at her. Their big shaggy dog has actually came in our yard growling at me and my son when we walked through our yard to the mailbox. We were walking back toward the house and the dog came down their yard over into ours barking and growling with it's ears standing up and I picked him up and kept going toward the house. Luckily it stopped at the overdrop near the garage and didn't come any further. Other times, they never even pay any attention to you at all when you are outside. I told the neighbor about it and she was so apologetic (sp?) and said that she would definately tie him up(yeah right, that was over a month ago and it still isn't tied). The problem is, we have called animal control, and a cop lives right across the street and we still can't get anything done about it

| A few years ago, a dalmation was with its owners loose.. it ran all the way across the park to try and attack my pet! I let loose with a kick..just to ward it off.(Did not connect) The owners response??" Oh, he was just playing, he would'nt bite" I was steaming!

| My dogs have been attacked twice by others not on a leash. Part of the problem is that the leash ordinance isn't enforced. Now I carry pepper spray with me. It's not as effective on dogs as it is on people, but it's better than nothing. My friend used to carry a big stick with her. Isn't it sad that you can walk your dogs without being in fear of an attack? |

| I hear ya! My neighbor has two bird dogs...natural hunters. He lets them out to pee and if they don't come back he leaves for work and they run all day. The one is VERY aggressive and will come up on my porch or even in my other neighbor's yard with the hair raised on his back, growling and even lunging. I put my Rottie mix in the fenced in back yard and have to bring him in because he goes nuts when those dogs are running all through and pooping in my yard. There have been times I had my puppies out in my own yard playing and had to panic and snatch them up and bring them in because those dogs were out. I always picture them trying to attack my pups and what I would have to do to protect them. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!!! |

| I dont like it either...it really bothers me. I was walking Kelsey one afternoon and another dog a Welsh Corgi?, I dont know..some weird looking dog, came running up to Kelsey and was barking and showing it's teeth like it was going to bite her! I grabbed the dogs collar and held it back and let kelsey run away a little on her leash. About a minute later here comes the owner in a frantic...saying sorry. I said "it's ok, but next time make sure you know where your dog is, it could've really hurt my dog". GRRRRRRRRr.....i could've even got bit by this dumb dog! But that was a risk I was willing to take to protect my baby. She was so scared from being walked in that area for about a month, but she's fine now.

| Your right, they should all be on a leash. If they don't want to use one, let them find a dog park to run and play in. Or Better yet, their own backyards!

| A couple of years ago Megan was walking Rusty, our lab. He was on a leash of course. Out of no where a pit bull came running up and literally flipped Rusty on his back and went right for his throat. Megan started screaming and the guy who owned the pit bull started laughing. A man passing in a car stopped and help pull the pit bull off of Rusty. Megan came home and we called the Animal Control Officer. The guy tried to tell Animal Control that Rusty attacked his dog. When we brought Rusty outside the officer could see how laid back he is, and he saw the cut on his neck. Just then the good samaratan who had helped Megan drove by. When he saw Animal Control he stopped and told them what he saw. They ended up arresting the guy who owned the pit bull. What is wrong with people?

| I agree!!! I just went to the Bark at the Park event 2 weeks ago and it was a MUST wear leash event. I seen at least 3 times were the bigger dogs could have gotten into very ugly situations if they were not leashed. These people should be fined a heafty fine.

| I think if it's out on the street and stuff, yes the dog should be on a leash. However, there was a park near my house in CT that had trails running through the woods and alongside a river. There was a sign posted that said that leashes were optional for dogs along all trails. If you're in a place like that than you cannot complain because leashes are not required. My big dog would run along those trails off leash all the time. If you're in a place where it's posted that leashes are required, than yes it's wrong to have the dogs off leash but if it's posted or rules state that leashes are not required than you cannot complain and you should go somewhere else.
