| Hello, so sorry to hear about your baby. Might I suggest you contact the Fanny Mae Liver Shunt Foundation at http://www.tsfannymaelivershunt.com/ . These wonderful people may be able to give you some direction, and possibly even some financial help with the medical costs. I had the pleasure of speaking with Teri Shumsky, the founder last year before she died. Those of you who are not familiar with this foundation and/or Teri Shumsky, take a look at the website also. I'd also like to suggest and request that members of this board make a contribution to this agency to help yorkies and other dogs afflicted with liver shunt. I think YTers could make a difference! Best of luck. Kathy Last edited by YorkiePals; 10-12-2005 at 08:13 PM. Reason: mispelled Liver |

| I feel terrible that this has come in to your family. I pray that his surgery will correct the problem and he will be good as new! Your family and Matise will be in my thoughts and prayers. I know it is a huge stress emotionally and financially, but somehow it will work out. Don't despare, it is something that can be worked with and that gives you hope. Maybe connect with the people on here that have gone through it so you will know what to expect and I really feel this will bring you comfort. |

| Kara, I am so sorry to hear this. On the upside, you will be getting a second opinion on Monday and perhaps better news! In the meantime, in times like these, I try to think ahead and have all those things organized that will free me up to concentrate all my time and energy on my baby. It always helps me to hang on to my sanity knowing that I don't have those aggrivating things to do [laundry, housecleaning, grocery shopping, etc.] that would take one second away from my baby!! The thing that helps me most is to stay busy and Toto stays calmer if things are as normal as possible. We will be praying for good news on Monday!!

| Thank you all so much. My husband and I are very scared for our little Matise. He had another seizure this morning when he woke up. We are trying to be strong for him but it is hard. We really appreciate all the kind words, thoughts and prayers. It is so hard to watch him go through a seizure and know that there isn't much we can do but just pet him and let him know we are there for him. It makes us very sad and feel very helpless. The vet has given us some medicine to help and has changed his food and said we should start to see an improvement but it will take time and that hopefully we can find a good surgeon to do the surgery next week. I am so happy that we have you all to lean on in this our hour of need. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.
