My first hate mail - AKC suspension list related

Thank you for keeping the public informed. If I was going to purchase a little puppy, I, too, would be very interested to know whether a breeder had ever been on the suspension list. I'm sure there are instances when a good breeder just makes an error of judgment, but most likely most on the list deserve to be there. Go for it! ~Joanne~

I would like to just share some thoughts.

If a breeder who has been breeding for 15 years makes one mistake, gets a slap on the wrist, gets suspended for 6 months, but then did their six months, cant you update the list and say "no longer suspended"?

I realize that you may not have time to update the list, but to me its kind of the responsibility you took on when you started with the list and making it available to the public.

If your putting information out on the internet that is incorrect, you might end up facing more than just a threat of a lawsuit and with more than one person.

Your obviously a very caring person to help those in the market find out how reputable their breeder is, but if you dont have time to update the list--how is AKC gonna deal with that when they get complaints from breeders who are no longer on suspension??

Just some thoughts.

If she had nothing to hide or feel bad about she wouldn't get this upset. She should check her emails twice for spell check. I think you are doing a great thing Sarah and don't let people like this from letting you get the word out about them.

The list states the date of when someone was suspended, so if someone receives a 6 month penalty, anyone looking at it can do the math. It doesn't change the fact they once received the suspension. She stated she will change the list if a penalty is reversed.
I think anyone looking for a puppy and really wants to do their homework and research, should have access to this information.
Personally I wouldn't care if someone has been breeding 1 year or 30 years, if they have any type of violation, that to me is something that should be a record that someone can view when trying to determine who they want to buy a puppy from! JMO.

Good luck with your list - the AKC SHOULD have an updated version - they make alot of money - how hard could that be to keep up with ?

It took me forever to figure out what "inbracment" was.

Well, I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it. The AKC penalized her, not you. Like you said, you just put all the info that was already out there in one place If she feel she was wronged, then her issue should be with the AKC, not you. I applaud your efforts and your response to her.

Really, that is what spell check is for!! And I thought everyone know God should be capitalized. I make typos as well, but that makes you wonder if they have ever looked at a dictionary.

I agree with the spell check thing, give me a break! Stuff like this drives me up the wall... and it's not just her spelling, it's her making up words and using them like they make sense! Anyway, thanks for posting this, very informative!

Whats odd is this person is locally close to me! I have never heard of them before, but I am glad that if I was looking again that this list is here it is important to know ones history. Whats really odd is one of the people on the list is someone who I know a friend of mine bought a pup from, it was extremely awful. Thank you for compiling this information.

I talked about this in another thread - I spoke with the AKC about it (their publications don't go away when someone is off suspension - it is permanently there for the world to see) - but, they publish the info according to their by-laws. Though I was just basically regurgitating info that is available online freely to anyone - I still could face some trouble for posting it - so, I took the links down. So much for helping people find a reputable breeder......... I guess people are on their own - best we can do is educate.
