| help, my Baby is so sick and droopy ceeby has been drooping around all day. Not his usual playful self. he is ten weeks old and I have had him for two weeks. he proabably has eaten a total of one tablespoon all day. I gave him Nutrical about seven this morning and another dose of it about two. he was a little overdue for his final puppy shot and my husband gave him that late this afternoon. he screamed like he was killing him. After that everytime either of us tried to touch him he would run and hide. When he started letting me hold him and pet him again, if I touched him on either side of his body, he starts screaming in pain again. What on earth could be wrong. he did not act this way from his last shot. Also he has been scooting and the vet told us to worm him again so we did that tonight. But the not eating started this morning I have offered him everything I can think of. I have been having to hand feed him a lot anyway but today, he won't eat from my hand. he is so droopy, I am really worried. It is after hours for my vet and I live in the country. As far as I know there is not a 24 hour vet emergency anywhere around me. I am afraid I will get up in the morning and he will be dead. I guess I need some reassurance. he seems to have a lot going on. Do they sometimes just not eat as well on some days as others. he has been a real finicky eater anyway. i am worried sick. |

| I'm thinking coccidia but you would need to see a vet asap. Usually the antibiotics are pretty cheap and they start working pretty fast.

| Awwwwe, poor little guy. It is important that you get water into him if he is not drinking on his own. If you have a dropper, go in from the back corner of his mouth. It is nonevasive and he will drink it right down as you gently dispurse it. Was he fine before the shot? Like a child, it does affect them. I will pray for him and hope he will be all better and back to his normal self tomorrow. If not, I would definetly take him to the vet. |

| I understand your dilemma - I used to live in the country - away from the normal conveniences of a big city. If you think he is getting more and more sick, then I would call your regular vet at home for some advice. If it is that he just won't eat and he seems like he doesn't feel good, then he is probably OK to wait till morning to see the vet. My vet has me give Rowdy pedialyte (by syringe - he won't drink it) when he won't eat or drink, of course, you may not have access to that either. As long as my Rowdy will lick nutrical, I don't get frantic - but when he does not want to lick nutracal, then I know he feels really bad. I have put it into his mouth, when he didn't want to lick it. You'll just have to use your judgement about how sick he is. I know it is hard, they are so tiny and we feel so badly when they don't feel good. Also, the last shot (antibiotics) Rowdy got hurt him really badly. The shot site bled a lot and he limped around for a day and really acted like it hurt alot - so maybe the shot your hubby gave him really did hurt more than usual.

| You are saying he is hot. Look at his belly and make sure it doesn't have hives on it or is not purple-ish. |

| You MUST go to an emergency vet right NOW! I live in the country too, and our nearest emergency vet is two hours away, and believe me, we have gone there many times. Look in the yellow pages, and find one ASAP. If he's hot, he either has an infection or an allergic reaction. Either way, he is too young to wait. Please go right away. I'lll pray for you guys. |

| I'm so sorry your baby is so sick!!!!!!!! I think I would call your vet just to be on the safe side especially since you say the wee one is HOT!!! I agree it could be a reaction to the immunization and time may be critical in this regard. You won't loose anything by at least calling your vet for his advice and even if he advises you to bring him in somewhere he may offer you some help in what to do in the mean time........my hopes are with you!!!!!!!! |
