I understand your dilemma - I used to live in the country - away from the normal conveniences of a big city. If you think he is getting more and more sick, then I would call your regular vet at home for some advice. If it is that he just won't eat and he seems like he doesn't feel good, then he is probably OK to wait till morning to see the vet. My vet has me give Rowdy pedialyte (by syringe - he won't drink it) when he won't eat or drink, of course, you may not have access to that either. As long as my Rowdy will lick nutrical, I don't get frantic - but when he does not want to lick nutracal, then I know he feels really bad. I have put it into his mouth, when he didn't want to lick it. You'll just have to use your judgement about how sick he is. I know it is hard, they are so tiny and we feel so badly when they don't feel good. Also, the last shot (antibiotics) Rowdy got hurt him really badly. The shot site bled a lot and he limped around for a day and really acted like it hurt alot - so maybe the shot your hubby gave him really did hurt more than usual.
