I would be very concerned if it lasted more than a few minutes. How long was she laying there until she stopped panting? Excessive panting has been connected with mini-seizures, but there really isn't a cure for it if I remember correctly. Hopefully, this isn't what you are dealing with.

a few simple suggestions...that i had to learn all on my own.

Never have her vaccinated w/ more than 1 vaccination per vet visit.
They could overdose the small pup (it happened to me even after i asked the Vet 3 times if it was safe, she had a serious allergic reaction and almost died,....YES I stopped going to that Vet!!)

Nutri-cal is a God-send. Don't leave home without it!

Plenty of exercise and love!!

The heaving panting was from about 1:30am till about 2:30am...I just think she was playing toooo hard. Since then I have been limiting her time playing with my chihuahua Twilight ( 15-20 mins) and she has not done it again...Thankd God!!! lol

Welcome to YT. I see that you are from Michigan and I am from MI.
Just a heads up you don't want your Furbabie to get cold so if you take her out in the snow you want to put a coat or snowsuite on. Your babie does not have an undercoat, their fur is more like hair and they get cold like us; also puppies can have a hard time keeping their temp up so keep here dry and warm when outside. Enjoy your new Babie

Wet food does also have the added benefit of a higher water content, which is good for an animal's urinary tract. Gatsby used torun around the house sniff everything and sit down pant for 5-10 min and do it again he grew out of it in just a few weeks so i wouldn't worry but do mention it to your vet it will ease your mind

I would love to see these studies if you wouldn't mind sharing. I always thought the same as you, but my vets (all 3) told me back when I first got Missy, that I was wrong. My favourite vet said that kibble just gets packed in their teeth and causes decay, and it is not best for them nutritionally. She suggested homecooking and brushing their teeth. She asked me to stop feeding RAW unless I was going to hunt animals for her to eat fresh. I was disappointed in her telling me to discontinue feeding premade RAW because the enzymes are sooooo good for their teeth. I do leave kibble out for my girls to snack on, only to make sure that they are getting enough food and because they like it. I'm not particularly concerned about the effects of homecooked or kibble on their teeth because I do brush my yorkie girls teeth faithfully every, single night...along with my 3 skin kids teeth, and my own! Phew!

Just curious, I know that you believe kibble is best for preventing tartar buildup, but do you also believe that it is best nutritionally? I have researched dog food alot, and I personally don't feel that it is. BTW, I am only asking you because I respect your opinion. Please don't think that I'm challenging you. What to feed is such a personal decision, we all just have to do what we feel is best for our babies

Welcome and congrats on the new puppy. I got Molly for Thanksgiving, she was 10 weeks/2lbs and it was like having a newborn in the house. She is fun and very loveable. I treat her like a little person. She sleeps in bed with us, camps with us and goes on visits us. I feed her dry food 3x a day for now and have read to go to 2x when she is a bit older. I have noticed that she drinks ALOT. We had the problem with the low blood sugar but have overcome that!! She is now 17 1/2 weeks and weighs 4lbs. Hope you have a great time with your baby and there are many people here to help you if you need.

Thanks...Yeah Now that i have had her about 1 week...We have a routine down...Ever since I got the Nutri-Cal and starting giving her that in the morning she has done great!! I swear by that stuff...She loves her food (also 3x per day) plus she gets 1 or 2 mini wellness puppy treats..lol..Today i found her a bag but it looks like a purse...And I can't believe how much she reall likes it.. It is like having a new born all over again...lol..Last night she slept with me and my husband but Twilight (my Chihuahua) was not thrilled with the idea..lol..Poor thing!!
