There have been multiple studies that have shown that eating wet food does not have any more detrimental effect on teeth than eating all dry food. Wet food does also have the added benefit of a higher water content, which is good for an animal's urinary tract. Generally speaking, kibble is actually LESS nutritious for dogs than a high quality canned food.
When you really look at the breakdown of calories, proteins, minerals and other nutritional factors, a combination of wet and dry is ideal.
I follow my vets advice and homecook, leaving kibble out for my yorkies to snack on...and most importantly I aim to BRUSH THEIR TEETH DAILY.  |
I agree that we disagree on this. I do not believe it is an "old wives tail". Studies have shown that eating dry kibble is better for tarter buildup among other things.
