Biewer & Parti-Yorkie---difference?

So then any dog that *can be registered with AKC* meets standard? I think not. AKC registerable and meeting a standard are not synonomous with one another. Two completely different aspects altogether.

Ok, ok....so, for a layman like me...my take away on this is, a parti yorkie is AKC registered, a biewer is not, but they are under their own club. And neither would meet the standards to be in the show ring....BUT both are BEAUTIFUL, wonderful pets!! So cool !!!!

It really IS a pretty simple concept. The YT standard calls for blue/gold, nothing else. Partis do not meet that aspect of the standard. So it cannot be said that the YT standard is the standard for Partis. There is no recognized standard that allows for parti coloring.

So I guess all of the show breeders, including the ones on YT, that have said that they do breed silver and/or black Yorkies to enhance color....I guess you would also say that they have no standard either?

I'm going to even make this MORE confusing.. my Parti boy KEPT his beautiful tail and ALL the Parti's that will be born at my home will keep those magnificant tails.. to mutilate that stunning part of these dogs is criminal in my mind and there is just no earthly reason to do it. Once you've seen these beautiful animals with a tail.. you'll never go back! (just my opinion of course)

I can imagine how pretty that would be in person! My Livi has a docked tail, but it is a longer one and I LOVEEEE it!!!!

Good for you and I agree with your way of thinking. Unfortunately at this time, I do crop my pups tails so they go along with what the standard says (with the exception of color). It is a shame that us humans are the ones who decide to alter and mutilate our dogs in order to have them meet a standard that was made and written by other humans. Kinda makes you wonder ...

I don't see how that is at all related to what I was saying, but to answer the question, I guess the difference would be if in doing that they are aiming to produce dogs that meet the standard... There is no standard for the black/gold ones...is that what you mean?

Hmmm...that was a bit...irrelevant, among other things that I'll refrain from saying. I'm not really sure what the issue is. Some dogs meet the standard, some don't.

But hey, I'm always happy to share pics of my furballs. This pic in particular is one of my faves because it's one of the few times I've managed to get this little stinker to sit still for more than 2 seconds.

How is it not related? You can't single out just one "color fault" but say the others are "aiming to meet the standard". That's almost funny.

Don't you own Yorkies...I have read that you breed Yorkies. Surely, they meet the standard and you would want to show us what that is 'suppose' to look like.

Really...I thought it was a pretty basic concept myself. If a breeder is implementing black/gold to enhance a blue/gold coat, then how is that not "aiming to meet the standard?"

Didn't you see the picture I posted? Not that it matters to me if she meets the standard or not...she's spayed. What's the debate here, because I'm clearly in the dark about whatever it is? Whether or not Partis meet the standard for the YT? I thought everyone here knew that they didn't because of their coloring?
