| show boy? i have just rescued a show male as the owner was giving him up due to moving home and couldnt take him. he is called Harvey and i want to carry on showing him as long as i can keep the coat. does anyone else show? any advice on looking after Harvey's coat? he is gorgeous and so laid back, he likes to just lie on the sofa lol. |

| How old is Harvey? Has he accumulated any points? I'm not familiar with showing in England but I'd love to see pictures of Harvey! |

Make sure that you keep your Harvey in wraps.....try and keep him off of things that break and ruin coat. Make sure that you keep his coat clean. There is a lot of work to keeping up a show coat. Do a google search on wrapping coats....I know the Pure Paws has a good instructional wrapping video

| thank you everyone, Harvey is 2 years old and in the uk, they dont use points, its challege certificates and Harvey has one at the moment but im sure he can get more. |

| I thought that was the way it was......and something about they can't even obtain anything towards their Championship until 18 months of age.

| i think thats right lol. i have just groomed and re wrapped Harvey and he is exellent, just stands there, lies down when you tell him lol. i had all his show stuff and all his accessories given to me off his old owner, she also gave me wrap coats that you put over the wraps when they are in, they are really good lol. cant wait to start showing with him.!! |

| thank you everyone! im so exited to start showing, i always wanted to show and was never brave enough but then Harvey came along! he is gorgeous. loves to be part of the family. is he still ok to play though? and go walks? sorry ive never owned a show dog and dont want to do anything wrong. |

| can i get a show lead just for walks? and he likes to have a mad half hour playing fetch and thats all, is that ok? is he allowed off lead on walks? sorry for all the questions, i just dont want to ruin him! |

| i have loads of him already but i think Timmy has hidden my phone cable lol! hes a monster for that! its either Timmy or i lost it when moving so cant post any atm. wont a normal lead and collor ruin his coat? do i walk him in his wraps? he is trained off lead so he will go off. i am so exited hehe/ |

I haven't come into contact with someone who said it would ruin the dogs coat, but I do know someone who shows Long haired Chihuahuas and her dogs are always walked on show leads. I guess it depends. And as far as I know a show Yorkie should be kept it wraps 24/7. Unless of course you are going into the show ring. Keeps it from dragging the ground and taggling and all that unfun stuff. | |
