You can treat him like your pet. Remember conformation dogs are pets too! Walking and playing is fine, have fun! There are plenty of people who have dogs that do ruff house and then do fine in the ring, just make sure his grooming is kept up.

You can use a regular lead for walks, and fetch is fine.
And if he is trained to walk off lead I don't see why not.
