| Leaving your baby Callie made me feel so bad about leaveing her at the grommer today. We got to the groomer and I carried her in to the place and then set her down because I didnt know if the salt they had on the side walks was petsafe and didnt want her messing with it, well we walked over toward the counter and were waiting for the women to finish with the lady who was there and Callie stood and pawed at my leg standing on her back legs doing the mommy I'm scared pick me up so I did and put her on my hip/side stomach and she was just shaking so bad I felt so bad handing her over to the groomer I get the rush service so they do her and then call me to get her when shes done so shes not sitting in a cage or anything it normaly takes about an hour. She hates to be away from me like if I'm sick or dont feel good and go lay down and she stays up with my grandparents she curles up and goes to sleep until I get back up. Shes never ever left alone like if I need to go to the store my grandpa watches her while me and my grandma go and she normaly sleeps until I get back. If I take a shower and get dressed she walks around crying just knowing I'm going to go somewhere it makes me feel soooooo bad. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do about it?

| Yep! My babies cant stand going to the groomer, but its got to be done. Maybe you could try taking her to the groomers just to say hello and give her a treat and then leave. My babies hate riding in the car if its only to go to the groomers and the vet....if i take them somewhere fun then they want to go and seem to do better. Maybe you could get special treats & only give after the groomers?? Like a bite of ice cream?? |

| how old is she? Layla was the same way until she was about a year- then she became ok with my being away. However, the groomer, I think, is a separate issue. I used to bring Layla to petsmart to be groomed- she hated it- when she came home i would have to carry her around for days. I can't even bring her into petsmart without her shaking- i feel awful for ever leaving her there. I think the blowdryer in the cage really upset her as she still shakes when I blow dry her. I now groom her at home. The inital investment in tools was big but i KNOW i would have already spent 3 times that if i had continued to bring her to be groomed professionally. Just something to think about I had never groomed anything before and now i do Layla- and i think she looks ok |

| I read somewhere it's best not to make a big deal of leaving. Don't fuss over her just before you leave to go somewhere and when you get home wait a minute or so before making a fuss over her. I made the mistake of fawning over my first yorkie when I left and returned. Took the advice I just posted and Sophie isn't a whiner when we leave to go somewhere or when we return. She just accepts that we'll be back soon

| you can't mess up that bad I thought the same thing but i just couldn't bring her back- so my other option was doing it myself! If you go to the grooming seciont on here- there are some videos of me grooming Layla- that might help. But it is mainly trial and error- start by taking off a small amount and keep going until you like how it looks. If you want more info on it- pm me- i'd be happy to tell you what i use and where i got it |

| I always feel guilty, too... but luckily, it's a small groomer in the back of a small business so it's really laid back and only 1 groomer. Usually 2-3 dogs at a time max. He hates going there, but when I pick him up, he's sooo happy so I know it couldn't have been THAT bad and it makes me feel better.

| Kacee loves her groomer. She just doesn't like getting groomed! I always ask her if she wants to go see Angie and she gets really excited and then when we get there Angie gets the wiggly yorkie and kisses to boot!

| Phoebe just to stress out a lot but it help her ones she has her sisters, I'm not suggesting to get another one, just telling you my experience. I have a very bad experience at the groomers, so I decided to do it my self, yes I mess up in the beginning but now I like how they look, they don't stress at all with me

| I dont take Fancy to the groomers but she doesn't like to stay home alone so I take her everywhere. I got the Kwigy Bo bag for her birthday and I take her in places that I otherwise couldn't... She gets very antsy, following me from room to room when she knows Im getting ready to leave and if I set the KB bag down on the floor she hops in it and lays down. I hate the thought of leaving her home alone anyways so I dont mind taking her with me. Oh, I forgot to add, Fancy puts her paws on my leg too - as if to say pick me up and if I dont pay attention the first time she does it she lets out a little bark/growl. It so cute when she tries to "talk".

| OMG! My grooomer is also a personal friend. She is really psyched that I am getting another yorkie next month. She has been grooming for 11 yeaars for me. Lindsay my chi is usually a doll. Last saturday she called me up and was kind enough for an xtra 10 to have her hubby pick up my chi Lindsay and bring her home. She new my fybromyalgia and spinal stenosis were rearing their ugly heads It only take a half hour. Lindsay is usually an angel. Susan the groomer said she panicked in the tub, so she bent down to give her a kiss and calm her. Lindsay bit her right on the nose. I still feel guilty. Susie shrugged it off, said everything else went fine, she had hubby hold her in a towel when she grinded her nails. She also had her anal glands released for the 1st time. Also,a hand blow dry. What was usually 25 was a well deserved 50. Formerlyvviccles12007-2009 Last edited by Lindsays Mama 2; 01-15-2010 at 09:26 PM. |
