| True meaning of love for a owner, they do not forget. I have often wonder if dogs forget their 1st owners when rehome or left behind for one reason or another. Well I found out the answer to my question the other day. My husband and I have been keeping servicemen dogs since the war started at one time we had 8 dogs with us most have gone back to their owners but 4 are still here including my son lab, 2 other labs and a jack russell. Millie my son lab. has always remember my son when he comes home and is happy to see him and is his shadow when he is here and sad when he leaves again I always thought that Millie remember him because of us and being with us off and on from puppy hood. my son tries to come home after ever tour from IRAQ. But the other day I got the saw the true love a dog has for his owner and I must say it left me in tears. Ziggy has not seen his owner in 2yrs because his owner has been back and forth to IRAQ. we were all kinda concern when Ziggy started barking hair raise on his back teeth showing but keith his owner step out of the car and in an instance ziggy remember who he was and ran and jump on him both were rolling on the ground with excitment. I was in tears to say the least. Keith stay for about 3hrs with ziggy and then he had to leave again. Ziggy is only 4yrs old. I prayed this war will be over soon and all the servicemen families and their pets will once again be together again, in the meantine Ziggy and others will wait for their owners to return for them and take them home.

| That brought tears to my eyes. Ziggy must have been so happy to see his owner. It's sad you can't explain to them the reason they were left I think but I also believe they never forget. My daughter had a cacotiel (S) for many years when she lived at home but when she went away to college poor Charlie was alone because I started working full time. He was use to being with me and her so I ask my GF if she would take him. She had other's on her sun porch and he would have company. She took him and he was very happy being with the other's. Years later I happened to pick her up for a party and went in, not thinking of Charlie at the time and started talking to her husband. All of a sudden a bird started screaming and she ran in the porch to see what happened. He was holding onto the side of the cage screaming. She didn't know what was wrong. I went in to see and he went nut's when he saw me! Really screaming. I started crying to think he remembered my voice, which he did. I took him out and he gave me kisses all over my face. Who knew they were so smart or felt love for their owners. Sorry this is so long but it's only another example that animals, not just dogs have feelings for those who showed them love. God bless those service people who keep us safe and may they return to us soon. |

| Thanks for the story and the tears this morning. I have wondered the samething about Bella since she is a rehomer. She had a 3 yr old little girl that was her playmate and comes to a home with two adults. When she sees little kids she goes crazy. Good thing we have two granddaughters on the way. |

| Marine's Mom ... what you are doing is without price. Knowing that their beloved pets are being cared for and loved must be a great relief for our service people. I don't often say this, but Blessings on you. You are doing a very selfless thing to watch their pets for them. |

| Thanks for all your kindness, when my son ask us if we would take in some of his friends dogs as they had know where to send them except the shelter how could we said no, we did request they all be netured or spayed, so we ended up with a Great Dane, labs, and 3 Jack russell terriers, I am sorry to say we had to turn some away. We knew very little about their history or their temperment the Great Dane was a big lap dog and Jacks were little terrors on little short legs and the labs were labs, they all got along fine with each other and us. one of the jacks owner was killed when his family didn't want her we kept her with the hope in time they might reconsider and take her back, I often wonder about her she loves my husband could care less about me, but let my daughter walk in and my husband is yesterday news until she leaves . so there must a been a young female in her life a one time that she loved dearly. as for as our two yorkies go she is there protector at all times. she a strange one.
