Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I've heard that washing them in tomato juice works best to get rid of the odor.

| I have had this problem more than once unfortunately. I had a German Short Hair who loved to play with the skunks. Poor stinky baby. Yes tomato juice really works. However you have to do it a few times and then wash with shampoo a few more times. The smell will also linger in your home (unfortunately). Good Luck!.

| Skunk Our retriver was sprayed the day before we left for vacation and he was to ride in the car with us for hours. I called my vet and he gave me the magic cure. 1/2 cup of good smelling dog shampoo, 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxcide and 1/2 box of baking soda. it makes like a paste and you rub it all over the dog. let it sit for about 20 minutes and then wash off. be very careful around the eyes. it was like a miracle. the dog rode in the car and we never smelled anything on him. unfortunately i have had to do this a couple of times and it always works. Good luck. Mary Ann |

| Yea our entire house stinks. Everything in my room smells, like my purse and coat. When i went to work everyone was like " can you smell a skunk?" I think Heidi was really freaked out, she got a huge amount of it in her face :S Soooo my mom bought this skunk-off stuff, but i think it smells like skunk. Anyway i hope it works! |

| Poor baby. I'm surprised it didn't make her sick. I did have to laugh when you said everyone at work was asking if they smelled skunk.

| We had a skunk that came everynight 2 summers ago. It was so annoying!! We couldn't leave windows open at night or fans on. My Jack got sprayed 3 times that summer before I let my husband dispose of Mr. Stinky. I felt guilty for a long time, but they aren't an animal that you can live trap and I was worried about the safety of my dogs. I used some of the Skunk Off on my Jack, but it really didn't do anything. The tomato juice was the only thing that worked, but for a long time she still smelled like skunk when she got wet. I have never heard of the 1/2 c shampoo, 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 box of baking soda. I wrote that down for future use!! Thanks Mary Ann! |
