| Babies and Yorkies? Hello everyone! I am brining my Yorkie baby home next month and I have three children. My boys are four and seven, and are so excited about getting a puppy... I'm not worried about them though, as they have been talked to about the fragility of a puppy and they understand. My daughter just turned one, and I'm just wondering if anyone on here has a baby and a puppy, and how they do with the dogs? Obviously I know that they cannot be left alone together and must be supervised at all times, that's not the issue. I just want to know if puppies take to babies ok? Please bear with me as this will be my first dog. Any feedback will be more than welcomed!

I do have to warn you about the fragility of toy breed dogs. Their legs are broken VERY easily. I worry about your baby grabbing at the puppies legs and pulling them the wrong way. Please watch out for this. I found out the hard way (when my Yorkiegirl pounced off my hand onto the floor from 5 " above the floor) that broken legs in these little ones are VERY expensive to fix (3,500 Canadian). It would be a good idea for you to get an exercise pen, and set up a private area for your puppy. That way when you can't be watching the puppy closely, it will be safe in its own little space. Plus, it really helps with the potty training if you have it set up with just peepads, bedding, and food/water. By the way, welcome to YT

| Once my family was getting together and I had Capone with me. I was holding him and my 4 yr old niece was petting him and he did a little relaxed grunt and then she punched him! She thought he was growling at her, but I was so angry (she's so cute so I couldn't be mad for too long). Every since then I don't like for kids to get too comfortable around my baby. Maybe a quick pet and thats it. I'm sure it may be different since they will actually be living with the dog though.
