My boyfriend's doberman was not kennel trained and slept on the bed since he got her. When I moved in this became a big problem because she's a bed hog and I'm a light sleeper. We started putting her in the kennel a year old and it took her much longer to catch on - she whined and made a fuss for months! She has to sleep in the kennel because she won't sleep anywhere else, she always ends up sneaking on the bed with us. Keep crate training your little guy, he'll get used to it eventually Its better to do it when they are young.

| If he yaps, I would just ignore him. Don't look at him, don't talk to him, and definitely don't let him out. It's sorta like a kid - when they cry simply to get attention, it's annoying, right? If you ignore the child (or dog), they will learn that what they are doing will not get them any attention. I KNOW it's a painful thing, but it really does work. Sometimes my Joey will whine when we stick him in the kennel before he thinks he's ready for bed at night, and we just completely ignore him. Within about 5 minutes, he realizes he's not getting out for the night, and he just goes to sleep or chews on his toy or towel. Good luck!!!

| Hi, When I got Bella my 11 month old Yorkie, she was sleeping in her crate. However my beloved Yorkie of 15 years who I just lost in August always slept with me, so Bella started too. I'm curious to know if that's bad for her and will it cause her to think she's the boss? When I got her, she cowered a lot, and was very quiet.....not anymore. She's very active....anyway, I love her to pieces and want to do what's best so any advice is welcome. Thanks, Chris mom of Beautiful Bella and always to Sam. |

| Harper thinks he is a guard dog....he sleeps right by my bedroom door. Now that the weather has gotten a bit colder, he has started to want to sleep with me, but not until the middle of the night. He will wake me up and then will snuggle underneath the covers next to me.

| Mocha has two sleeping spots. He usually starts off in his kennel but by morning he is on his pillow, my former pillow, lol! Both kennel and pillow are on my side of the bed. |

| Chloe and Sydney sleep in our laundry room in their playpen ( chloe) and crate ( Sydney) Chloe did sleep with us when we went to visit family for Thanksgiving , and she would go from me to hubby and back again all night. She would go up to my dh and just stare at him the lick him on the eye to wake him up and he couldn't do anything but laugh , I swear we didn't sleep that whole week but he would just laugh more and more every night when she would wander over , stare , then lick him in the eye to wake him up

| Ruger sleeps with me or me and my girlfriend if I let him. Otherwise, he seems to like it in the open closet of my bedroom on a blanket. I read it's not good to let your dog sleep in your bed without an invitation, so I've now got him so he won't bug me if I don't let him. That said, I do enjoy his company at night. |

| Depends on who makes it to bed first. If Reesie beats me there she's a little hampster ball on my pillow. Otherwise she's right next to me. Sometimes she'll crawl under the covers. |
