If he yaps, I would just ignore him. Don't look at him, don't talk to him, and definitely don't let him out. It's sorta like a kid - when they cry simply to get attention, it's annoying, right? If you ignore the child (or dog), they will learn that what they are doing will not get them any attention. I KNOW it's a painful thing, but it really does work. Sometimes my Joey will whine when we stick him in the kennel before he thinks he's ready for bed at night, and we just completely ignore him. Within about 5 minutes, he realizes he's not getting out for the night, and he just goes to sleep or chews on his toy or towel. Good luck!!!
