| Rocky What worries me about Pits are the cases that I have heard of them attacking people for NO REASON. For example, my aunt Phyllis use to own a Pit Bull named Rocky. She got Rocky when she was 10 weeks old from a breeder -- yes, Rocky was a girl dog LOL I know the name Rocky is a boy's name but tell that to my aunt Phyllis who thinks it's a girls name LOL -- Anyway, Rocky was raised with lots of love and attention. My aunt even hired a trainer when Rocky was a pup. She really loved this dog to pieces. When Rocky was around 2 years old, my aunt was working out back in her garden. She was on her hands and knees when Rocky charged her from behind and attacked and bite her HARD. She had to have several stitches in her thigh and knee. She loved Rocky too much to give her up (even though the entire family pleaded with her to) and she kept her. A few months later, Rocky struck again. This time my aunt Phyllis was getting undressed at the end of the day when Rocky attacked her and made her both arms bleed. After that she knew she had to give Rocky up -- even though it broke her heart. So this is what worries me. Why would a dog who was raised with LOVE and kisses, treated as my aunt's own child from 10 weeks old attack my aunt? It just doesn't make sense to me. She was not an abused puppy because my aunt Phyllis is STILL friends with Rocky's breeder after all these 8 years ago when she first got Rocky. So what made Rocky snap? I do not say ALL Pits are going to do what Rocky did ... but there are so many who, like Rocky, came from loving homes and were NEVER abused. So why did they turn on their owners and attack them? Why bite the hand who feeds you?

I agree with that. they should go to responsible owners..... Any kind of dog should go to responsible owners... Any dog can turn on its owner or on someone else it doesnt know. It just is Pits get more of the attention.

Now what about these Pitts who are in a loving and caring homes like my brother and JCarlsome2004's aunt Phyllis? All dogs have the ability to turn on any giving moment,,, but I just don't buy that it's the medias fault. They are banned for a reason in some cities for a good reason. We have heard all the hoopla of other breeds in the past,,, like the dobie, the rottie, the boxer, and the shep. BUT I have never heard of any of these breeds being banned before. I'm sure there are reports of dog attackes and bitting of other breeds that are taken every day BUT the reason that the Pitts are being talked about a little more is because they are doing more damage with thier attackes. Again I'm NOT saying ALL Pitts are bad and will turn on thier owners but I would never let one around my Gus or family! For those of you who have Pitts please don't take this to heart. I'm just stating my opinion. I am not by any means trying to get anyone upset! We all love our pets no matter of what the breed is and there is nothing anyone can say to change that.

bulls did not start this thread. The name of the thread is "How do you feel about pit bulls" and we are ea. giving our feelings about it and we all have a right to our opinion. The problem is we all believe we are responsible dog owners, even the one who lets her child pull the tail of their pit bull. Have you ever heard anyone say "I own a dog and I'm NOT a responsible dog owner?????" I think the people with the real answer here are the insurance co's. Insurance co's will insure even in flood areas if you are willing to pay more and in many cases pit owners do not even have that option because the Ins. Co's have the #'s and they know with all the law suits because of bites and worse they cannot gamble with this customer. On Monday 8-30-05 the entire province of Ontario banned breeding of pits or bringing any into to the province. Kitchiner, Windsor and Winnipeg have done the same. In the states Denver, Miami and Cincinnati have banned Pit bulls. I hate some of the threads on YT and won't post unless it's something like this but if by making it a bit more clear that it isn't "media" and save one child's life, it was worth this post.

| My parents have a beautiful pit bull named Na-Na that they got from my brother who got the dog as a puppy from breeders who bred and raised pits as fighting dogs. Na-Na actually comes from a long line of fighting champs (as horrible as that is ) and my parents in no way condone pits being bred for this purpose. Anyway, they have her and love her to death. She smiles, cuddles, sleeps in the bed with them, plays hide & seek with my mom when she comes home from work...just the perfect pet. Well, the down side is my parents had a Jack Russel named Katie (who passed away a few months back by getting hit by a truck) and Katie and Na-Na were close as can be. All of a sudden, while they were boarded and in the same kennel, Na-NA attacked Katie. My parents put it off as a fluke and said it may have been because Katie took Na's blanket. Then it happened at home...and again at home. Just for no explainable reason. If she had wanted to kill Katie there is no doubt she could've but the reason as to why she'd just snap and bite Katie remains a mystery. Katie had to go to the Vet's for an infection in her jaw caused from the last bites she received and was being treated when she got out one night and was hit. Na-Na mourned Katie like crazy and loved her to pieces but, when she was alive, would still attack her!?! She's a HUGE lap dog to my parents and other then what she did to Katie, everyone would say she's perfect. But those episodes stand out in my mind and there is no way she would ever be around any of my dogs, including my Boxer, for fear of her hurting them. We have a problem with my parents watching my baby son if we know Na-Na is out of her crate. The fact that she was bred for fighting and has a genetic tie to fighting champs weighs heavy on my mind as a possible influence on her ability to turn from a sweet, loving companion to Katie, to a dog that visciously tore into her. She was not raised to fight and my parents still have her and remain loyal to her as she is their baby but they will not bring another pup into the house for fear of her reaction to it. I am just cautious around her whenever we visit but she's never shown any violent tendencies towards any humans, but for a LONG time she had never shown any towards Katie either, so I will remain cautious. They are BEAUTIFUL animals, and I've seen how sweet they can be, but maybe in some there is something more that lingers below the surface

First of all my comment is direct to the people who raise pit bulls to be fighters and aggressive not to the ones that are in loving homes. And I just said they get a lot of attention I did not say wethere good or bad. Please dont take what everyone says so personal and try to read between the line!
