| ![]() Hello my name is Haley and I am just saying hello because this is my first post. We just got a new baby boy on Friday and as you all we have many questions that have came up after he has came home. We named him Cooper and he is 10 weeks old. He is so funny and lively and has never really been scared of his new surroundings (may be scary for us ![]() Haley |

| ![]() Congratulations on your new baby and welcome to YorkieTalk ![]() As for sleeping in your bed; I would wait until he is potty trained. You don't want him going potty in your bed, and the crate is a great way to potty train. Also, for the first hair cut... you should wait until he has had all of his shots to take him places, including the groomer's. This is important so he does not catch anything that would make him sick. If you want his ears to stand up, I would advise that you trim the ear hair. Just carefully trim the hair on the outsides of the ears so the hair does not weigh the ears down. Have fun with your new baby... If you have more questions- ask away!

| ![]() ![]() ![]() My breeder told me to use a nose hair trimmer on my baby's hears and it works like a charm! If you shave just the top half it may help his ears stand up. With the nose hair trimmer you can trim along the sides back and front of his hears. The trimmer is so little is safe for a beginer like you and me! Congrats and I think you need to post some pictures!

| ![]() Hello, welcome to YT! I just use a little Wahl brand beard and moustache trimmer to do my girls ears. It's really easy. I just lay her ear flat on my hand and shave the top 1/3 of the front and back. It gets close enough that I don't have to worry about trimming the edges (which makes me nervous). The only thing that I have to be careful of is that the razor doesn't get too hot if I'm taking my time. I noticed her pull away once, and I think that was why. As far as when to sleep in your bed with you. I brought Missy into my bed on her 4th night home, but I took extra precautions. I got a donut shaped bed that was deep enough that she would stay in the center of it. I put her up in the top corner of my bed, right by my head. And I pushed my bed up against the wall. Then I filled the cracks with rolled up blankets *just in case* she managed to escape her bed, and I also put a big pillow below where she lay *just in case*. We still sleep this way. I feel safe knowing that she's contained to her little corner of the bed, and she's never actually tried to leave there. I'm sure that other people will have better suggestions for sleeping arrangements. This is just what worked for us. We have a very large bed, so there was plenty of room to squeeze her in there ![]() Enjoy your new baby!

| ![]() Congrats on your new baby and welcome to YT! Trimming the hair on the ears will help them to stand. I tried this with my boy though, and I guess they weren't meant to stand because he is still floppy-eared. ![]() Jimi slept with us on his very first night. We decided to sleep on an air mattress on the floor, for his safety. When he got accustomed to getting on and off our actual bed with a stair, we could finally sleep in our own bed again lol. Have fun with your new addition! ![]()
