I would just like to state that YES , a yorkie can make a wonderful CERTIFIED SERVICE DOG . As some of you on our forum may well know, Yoda is a certified service dog. He is not just a pet to me. No he does not "lead around the blind" .....he infact detects my seziures. He goes everywhere with me, without him my life would be very restricted. Along with his abilities to detect seizures came ALOT of traing, hence the title (well deserved ) CERTIFIED SERVICE DOG. There is alot to be said for all that he does for me. I do get stopped quite often by all different sorts of people, some rude, some just curious. To the rude ones I just show them his ID Badge and tell them to have a nice day. For those others that are extremely nice, I pass on to them a lifes lesson....no matter your size, there is always something that you can do to makes someones life so wonderful

That is very sweet! yes, yorkies can be service dogs...I never said that they couldn't. But different kinds of service dogs...due to their size. It may be a little difficult to have a yorkie for a seeing eye dog. It was just how this whole thread came about...that's why all the negativity is here.

You sound very proud of Yoda and I know he's a lucky dog to have you for a mommy!

A therapy dog is usually brought into nursing homes and hospitals and is a type "therapy" for people in those places.... you know to bring a smile to their day... ect, help calm anxieties ect (these animals are not just let into anyplace the owner wants to take them) help with depression ect.

If I may be so bold, I believe this thread was started because the bait was not taken in the other thread.... but the poster went a tad further in this thread and started calling names (but then deleted them) to make sure the bait was taken.... I guess I would be embarassed also if I were you.

THANK YOU for actually posting the defs for all those interested ...THIS is good information and shows the differences for those who don't know.

Yorkiegold - If you were really serious about talking about service dogs - you would have never started a thread with name calling in your post. You don't have to agree with anyone but you sure don't need to be using that kind of language. I think you've been here long enough to know what happens with that kind of posting.

wow, i haven't been posting much, iv'e been very busy lately, what is going on i am not trying to get into this one for i have no clue as to whats going on buuuut, i will say that this "subject" has been brought up soooo mannnny times already, and as we all know it is a very touchy subject, not everyone agrees, so to me it should have been looked up, yorkiegold, if you want to learn about how people feel about tinies or service dogs, please feel free to look it up, for these kinds of threads bring trouble, i have no clue what your intentions were or are, but for the sake of argument i just feel it would be wise to look it up instead of posting. just a bit of advise for the future.

Villette I just wanted to let you know that I did find quite a bit of humor in your post in the other thread...I read ALL of that thread and the only thing that I found to be rude was talking about the dog being dirty (in need of a bath). I try to read all of the points of view in all of the threads on this forum, I have never taken anything being said rude...maybe some people get there toes stepped on a little bit, but that is to be expected with so many opinions...but as for your posts, ALL GOOD TO ME!!!!
