| Same with my Rocky. 6 months, has never marked, humped or shown aggression. Such a good boy!

| At 5 months old, Couver was constantly humping... every dog he would meet, he would hump! It was quite embarassing, and I did not want it to be a life long habit, so I neutered him at 6 months. I think the longer you wait, the more likely they will keep the bad habits (marking in the house, humping etc) so I chose to neuter at 6 months. His humping stopped within a week or so after his surgery It's a personal choice, but I don't want a humping machine in my house! haha

| Hi, I had my baby neutered at 8 months. The vet told me that yorkies mature very slowly and so I decided to wait. He was a little under the weather for a couple of days, but after that he was up and running around. He had to wear an inverted lamp shade on his head for 5 days to prevent him from licking his incision. It doesn't hurt to put a little Neosporin ointment on the incision as I think that it sped up the healing. Hopes this helps!! |

| We neutered Sushi at 5.5 months....he did start humping every night and was starting to lift his leg halfway....he now humps occassionaly, especially when he's really stimulated playing but the obsession with it has subsided....Sushi says, "You can take away my balls, but can't take away my Manhood!!" |

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | My vet wanted to spay Roxy at 7 mo. to give her a little more time for permanent teeth to come in. At time of spay, she only had to have 2 baby teeth removed. Vets don't want to put them under more than once to do both procedures usually. I would have preferred 6 mo, cuz I wanted it done before first heat. She hadn't started yet, so we were in time. Have read on here that some yorkies didn't come into their first heat until about a year old. I worried anyway. She did beautifully through the whole thing and just too good after! She was back to normal the following day. I was a wreck trying to keep her quiet. Had to crate her at times just to quiet her down. She had been doing some humping prior to surgery, but we kept discouraging it & it never got real bad. The only time she does it now is when she's very excited & really not very often at all. Sidetracking her attention onto something else is pretty easy.

| that article was really nice you should read it i cant have Gatsby fixed because he already has allergies to vaccines and i dont worry about it because he dose not hump or mark in the house and in the pet store he wears belly bands he only humps heads when he dose and only his sister i think if you are not at risk for accidental puppies (my girl is fixed and my new puppy will be when she turns a year)you should really think about getting your male fixed females however are always at risk for accedental puppies they can get out but more likey males will get in to get them (i never leave my dogs alone but some people d ) just my two cents

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | I think my male was 6 months and my female was 7 months. I think it depends on weight as well as age. Not to mention, the boys are easier than the females )

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | I think so. I know they get moody just like we do around that time and they bleed...not fun I'm guessing, I've always spayed
