| shaved bald! someone i know mentioned shaving toby down completely (like within 1/4 to 1/8 inch of hair left) to bring out the 'silver' at the roots. I was a little taken aback by it because he does get shaved periodically but to shave that close to the skin seems a little much. Eventually the hair will grow enough and need to get cut and most the black/grey that remains will be cut off, but i dont think that their is a need to shave completely............. is there any truth the the fact that some yorkie owners do this? or is this just an ignorant comment? |

| Kacee's hair is growing out the same way, but there is no way I'm going to get it cut. It's just going to be trimmed at the bottom until it grows out. Actually, the colors are really very pretty together. At least, I think so.

| I only shave Princess in the summer, because of the heat. It growes back really fast, She had her last shave last Month. I won't do it again untill the summer. hmmmmmmmmm I would ask a groomer about the comment you heard, as we do live in the same state. Keep Toby warm, as it was a little cold here last night.

| I've taken Chewy down to 1/2 inch. Looks great, avoid sun. As for the results in bringing out the silver? See image: |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | We usually go a half-inch on Eddie, but we have done 1/4 a couple times. One-quarter looked too short to me, but he loved it and it grew back in a hurry. It has nothing to do with the color. We like it short in winter so the snow doesn't cling to it. And in our whopping four months of summer, we keep it short because it's easy to take care of. Do you see any harm in cutting it that short, or is it just personal preference? Obviously, we're deviating from the breed standard, but since we don't show him, that's not a concern.

| I only trim Leili's a little bit each month since I got her at 3 months old except the rear area where I cut very, very short. Because of this she has a skirt which I keep short, just about the belly line. I only take her outside when the weather is cool. Cathy |

| I keep Desi in the modified Westie cut, where her body is buzzed cut all the way down but her face and legs I keep longer. I love this look. |
