| 1 of mine is 3 the other 4 and they are housebroken as long as I'm watching them. That is the reason that they are free to roam the kitchen and the combined family room with a gate between there and the dining room. If they can get out of site they will pee occasionally on the rugs in the dining room and living room. At night they sleep with us and we keep the bedroom door closed but occasionally they will pee on the bathroom room rug. Thank heavens they are not great danes!

| No it did not confuse him at all and he is 20 months now but has been doing this for over a year. He uses the litter box in the middle of the nite when he needs to go or if it is raining outside. The bell is funny though when he really needs to go, he will hit it hard and if you are not listening, he will hit it harder! Pretty funny.

| not quite yet, but we're close. if we notice she's a little antzy and she's going to the baby gates or to the bell and get her out she's fine. she holds it all day on tiled floors and all night in bed if she has to, but if she's on carpet and we don't catch her fast she'll have an accident. she still doesn't ring the bell all the way, but she goes and touches it over and over so we're VERY close. |

| It sounds like very few yorkies are house trained. As I new owner, I am bit discouraged. |

My Lola is about 90% housetrained...She still has her occasional accidents one of which this morning I caught. She was trying to go on our bedroom floor...we have a pee pad down in the bathroom-which is in our room also-and she knows where it's at cause she poops on it and has pee'd on it to. I out her in the bathroom with me asi was getting ready for work this morning and she just walked out and started squatting but the bed!! I told her no ma'am and put her on the pad and then like magic- she pee'd away!! Don't let that discourage you though. EVERY dog has accidents and it takes time and patience. On the better side of it I LOVE my baby!! She is a sweet and beautiful dog that I an VERY attatched to!

| OMG...that is exactly my Rocco he is 5 1/2 months old, perfectly trained on wee wee pads, outside on my balcony (has doggy door). However, in my daughters upstairs loft bedroom, he just pee'd last week...ugh ! I really thought he as 100% trained. Just more patients and I guess take him to her room more often so he learns that room is also off basis. He has full run of our home, with the exception of the upstairs.... despite this -- love him to pieces... he is the best dog ever! |

| What was your training methodology? Did you crate train him? Are you home all day? Does he now have the run of your home? |

| I've heard that Yorkies are one of the hardest breeds to potty train - so naturally it's the first breed I would choose to housetrain (first dogs as an adult), haha. I would say my boys are 98% housetrained, but close to 99%. (they are 17 months and 12 months) They NEVER pee in the house - go figure -> they're unfixed but never mark indoors, but we will have a poo accident probably about once to twice per week. I think it's a mix of the two, sometimes one will have the accident, and sometimes the other will. Lately they've been doing MUCH better at coming and getting me to go outside. Joey has started pawing my face and putting his face in mine when he wants out. It's SO cute and it's reduced the accidents for sure! I am hoping to be 100% within a few months - it would be wonderful!

Niko is a 6 yr old rescue who was apparently beaten if he made a mistake as a puppy. He NEVER goes anywhere except outside. But if he has diarrhea and can't get out fast enough he will curl into the fetal postion by the door (shaking) and seems to be awaiting some horrible punishment (which never comes anymore). It is really heart breaking to see what his first family did to him.

| You know...I've noticed that Lola is starting to have more accidents within the last few days!! I wonder what the heck is goin on???? She goes to the doctor today for shots so I'm gonna ask him to make sure she's not having something else going on that I'm not aware of?? but of course she's still a baby so hopefully we're having an off week??

| I will say yes, he is. Only once in a while does he go off of the edge. I have to be diligent in rotating or changing the cloth pad because he won't go on it, if it is wet. Once, I even had to put the pad down on the asphalt so he would go! He has only peed on grass a couple of times. He has done very well at 3 other houses while we were visiting and is welcome back. He is 14 months and I still reward him and say "good pottie, good boy". Donna
