| 2 fur babies in one home... Is it better to have a girl and boy or 2 boys ? Does it matter? I am thinking about getting Max (Maltese & Yorkie= Morkie ) a Yorkie playmate. Thanks

| In general, 2 boys are likely to get along best of the combos. Other combos are personality dependent.

| Thanks so much! I guess if you have more than 2 it would no longer matter. I just do not want Max or the pup to be bullied if I got the wrong combo. Although i can not even imagine Max being the bully. He is so sweet and even gives his toys to the cat to try to get her to play with him-LOL

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | I have three girls in the house, 13 yr English Cocker Spaniel, 3 yr old Yorkshire Terrier, and a 5 month Maltese. They all seem to get along. They each have there own "space" and seldom intrude upon each other. All three sleep on my queen size bed. The smaller dogs all cuddle up to the Cocker Spaniel. We don't have any 'cat' fights here.

| I have 4 girls--2 yorkies that get along great and are 3.6 and 3.8lbs--then I have 2 mixed breeds that are 30lbs and 60 something lbs, the 30lber is a terrier mix with attitude that needed adjusted when we got the yorkies, but now all get along great!! Good luck--I think one of the best things I did was add another yorkie that was almost the same size as my first--they are best friends!! |

| I have one boy and one girl Yorkie. Buster will be 2 next month, Maggie was 1 in Sept. She is the dominant dog. She is always taking things away from Buster and stalking him. She weighs about one pound more than him. The vet said that when she fights with him or picks on him, I should tell her "good girl, good dog" and tell Buster "bad boy, bad dog". He said they would then learn their place. I can't do that. Buster is soooo sweet and loyal, I don't think I can say that. Anyway, it's been a trip with the two of them. We have had Maggie a year now and she has not given up tormenting Buster. When he gets his fill he will come sit in my lap. So I don't know, that's the take on male and female at my house!

to reward it, honestly. I've heard about letting them work it out themselves but not just rewarding it. I've also found that the females are usually the bossy ones! LOL! Over at my dad's house, they have a boy and a girl. When I come over, 2 boys and 1 girl. Lilly kicks both the boys butts! She's very much so dominant and is the first one to start a fight regarding bones, toys, etc. However, I think two boys and boy/girl typically work out better than girl/girl.

| I was shocked as well that the vet would say that. I pretty much let them work it out themselves. I can't reward her for sitting in front of the doggie door and not letting him in. But I did see him do it to her for the first time the other night. My spouse will tell her "bad girl" when he catches her biting Buster's back legs (he has LP), not sure why, but she really goes for his back legs.
