Thanks tyou for your suggestion............

I did go to Breeders.net... There seems to be a few breeders.. but they look like Pet shop type places.. Not home raised pups.. I will keep searching..

My suggestion would be to find a local breeder, go visit their house, see the parents of the puppies, what kind of environment they live in, How well socialized the pups are... then you know more and will feel good about it.

check www.breeders.net and type in your zip code....

I don't really know anything, but I just want to add a note about our experience with breeders. The last several dogs that we and my parents have had have come from hobby breeders and they have been the BEST. The puppies have been older than those offered by some of the professional breeders in the areas we've lived (Tulsa and now northwest Arkansas) and raised in home environments. The home environment has made a HUGE difference. The puppies have not been shy and didn't hide or quiver. They've been confident, playful, happy, and eager and ready to bond with a person. Obviously, the professional breeders we looked at weren't the greatest. One of them was really a small puppy mill. I know a really GOOD professional breeder is a whole different story, but we just couldn't pay those prices. The hobby breeders gave us access to better puppies than we could otherwise afford. One breeder gave us a discount partly because we bought two litter mates and partly because she really liked us and she didn't like some of the other people who'd looked at her dogs.

Thanks you for your reply..............

I was fortunate to have found such a great puppy with Daisy.. Coming from a pet store and all........... She is eager to learn.. has been potty training wonderful.. is not shy and never quivers...Shes wonderful.. I have a house full of animals.. (scary noises at time..lol) so.. I was worried.......... But I will not take that chance again....Its like she has been with us from day one..

I wish I could find a hobby type breeder.. Some prices are out of my range right now too........ unfortunatley I hope the right puppy will come along....

Thanks again for your input..

Laurie

Hi and welcome to yorkie talk. Shooter dog has a great site of a List of breeders around the world. She has a profile on each breeder. All you do is click on the map for the area you live and find a breeder in your area. http://www.shooterdog.com/breeders.htm His web site is cute too. They have yorkie horoscopes which are actually kinda funny. Good Luck on your puppy search.

I guess I should put a post out for a *Laura*.. is this correct?.. she purchased her babies from there?..

(Thank you again)

I LOVE reading on here and hearing all about everyones furbabies.........

Thank for the welcome.. Laurie
I haven't seen her on here a lot lately...she used to post daily....I don't have her email address but do you know how to send a private message? Find her name in the memberlist and click on it then click on where it says (send a private message ot this member) and send her a message.

Can I ask what pet store you got Daisy from because I seem to recall there are few people on here from NY who got puppies from a store in Manhatten that doesn't get there's from puppymills. I can't remember th name off the top of my head. These were healthy dogs with good temperaments. I would never buy from a pet store who gets their pups frm a puppymill but there are a few pet stores out there that don't.

Don't worry. You came to the right place and you will not get scammed if you read and research and find a good breedeer which is what it sounds like you are doing. Puppyfind.come isn't bad if you talk to the breeder a lot and talk to their vet and when you think you have found the puppy you want use a puppy escrow if it is being shipped. There are mostly small hobby breeders on there. You have to screen carefully to weed out the bad but my experience has been that there are more good breeders than bad and the bad are easy to spot if you are educated.

Good luck!

Good luck!

Hi Laurie. My name is Jennifer and I live in Brooklyn, NY. I'd love to help you find a new dog for your family. Would you be interested in adopting a Yorkie? There are some nice Yorkies in rescues just waiting for a home. If not, then I can recommend a really good place to go check out in Brooklyn. I purchsed my 2 dogs from Quality Canine (so did a few others members here on YT). Here is Quality Canine's info:

Quality Canine
2434 Stillwell Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11214
(718) 946-7014

When you get there, ask for Ivan. He owns the building and lives in the apartment above his store. At night, he takes the dogs upstairs to sleep with him. His dogs are NOT puppymills. They all come from local breeders and he himself even breeds some Maltese and Yorkies. He really loves his dogs and it's evident by how clean and happy they are. Ivan is an all around nice guy. He and his wife, Cathy (who recently passed away), started breeding years ago and have thrived at it. So I hope you'll check them out -- you won't be disappointed.

If you need ANY help at all, please feel free to PM me.

Hi And Welcome!
I can't help you with the Breeder in Question.
But I do feel that you would be better off finding a Breeder close to your home.
I'm sure a lot of puppies have been shipped to their new homes, and did just fine. But it's a lot of stress on them. You said you fell in love with one of the puppies, I have to tell you, once I take a look at their picture, I fall for all of them. I'm sure if you went to a Breeder, and held one, you would fall in love all over again. Good luck to you, I'm sure there's a baby out there waiting to be loved! Again, Welcome!

I totally agree with this.
If your scared of scams and shipping then i would also suggest you find a local breeder (It's not that hard). I got my Yorkie's from different breeders because i wasn't impressed with the way my first breeder treated me (plus she lived 5 hours away so i didn't have time to visit). My second breeder is amazing and only a 45 min drive away. I go and see Bella (my new addition as of Oct 21st) weekly, so when i pick her up to come home for the first time she will know me and be a little less stressed out. That's also a plus with finding a local breeder because you can visit your pup usually whenever you want, your more re-ashured with the whole purchasing and money thing and you become more comfortable with your breeder because you can put a name to the face.
Good Luck.

Yes, I think Quality Canines is the place I was thinking of. JCarlson mentioned it in her post. It is a pet store and they are brokers I think but that is not always bad, just usually....

It is worth a look.

Default yorkiepup.com

All I have read here so far about yorkiepup.com is hear say, I searched Google and there was one guy named Ben from 1 year ago that was bad mouthing Jeff Dane, none of Ben's emails or contact infomation worked when I tried to ask him a quesion, how can his statements be confirmed, can any of what you are saying on this board be confirmed? Is there anyone on this Yorkietalk board willing to state any of this slander against Jeff Dane in court? I would think if he is and his business were as bad as I'm reading here he would be barred from the AKC,,,, he is not (I see AKC pups listed on his site along with ACA), he would have complaints at the Better Business bureau?,,, I checked he has none that I can find, and if like I read here where he sells hundreds of pups every year and only has ghost figures writing messages on the Internet web sites complaining about him,,, not a one could I contact back, NOT ONE! Why is Google quoted so much here, where is the fact?,,, Where is the hatrid coming from? Bad news travels like wildfire, good news gets over looked. Look at the Iraq war. My mom and a few on this board rave about yorkiepup.com but that seems not interesting enough to talk about here. This board wants to bash, and bash. I find that very imature. The word Teacup,,,, my God, please grow up. There will come a day on the Internet where you can't stay hidden behind a screen name and you will have to back up slanderous statements made against businesses. If you feel you are right with your statements against some breeders like yorkiepup.com I have read about on these boards, list your name and contact information for the public to see. You writers making these remarks all know where you would end up,,,, in court. My 2 cents, I'd be careful who you slander, or you had better have proof, concrete proof.

I believe once you have been here for a while that you will find that most people on this forum are extremely nice; very committed to yorkies and obtained their babies from smaller hobby breeders. there are also several hobby and show breeders on this forum with a TRUE love for yorkshire terriers and not in it for a huge profit only. I find it very hard to believe that anyone with as many dogs as mr. dane has could truly love each and every one of them the same. call it slander or whatever you like, i call it my opinion on something that i for one am very passionate about.

Not going to get into the teacup business with you. i don't have to. I know what a yorkshire terrier is.
