| Lack of sleep-please help I have a 5 month old puppy that has been with us since she was 9 weeks ( I know, to early) anyway this dog will NOT sleep through the night and has us up at 5 every single morning. She weights about 5 lbs. and has a pretty good size pen with pletty of room for romping around, food, and a bed and at the far side of the pen a potty pad. Anyway this dog is worse than having a new baby and it's stressing my husband and myself out. We have even tried to keep her up at night and wear her out, by playing non-stop, but nomatter what time she goes to bed she is up at 5. Any help? I swear this dog is ADHD, just like my son was never wanting to go to sleep! |

| If she sleeps all through the night untill 5 in the morning she is actually doing pretty good. Alot of pups wake up all hours of the night

| One more question...what time do you put her to bed or she goes to sleep? I hate to tell you but a large part of the world gets up at 5:00am...

| Mine as well and thankfully those days are gone! OP: I have a puppy here who wakes up earlier than the rest of my crew. I take her out, let her piddle, and bring her back in and she goes back to sleep. When they are young, they have less bladder control. In time, I am sure you will get to a normal sleep routine.

| We have tried 9, 10, 11, 12. You name it, we have tried it. Yes, the pen is in our room, right next to my bed. She whines and whines and whines until we get up. We have tried ignoring it and she just continues to whine. We have tried to take her outside and bring her back to go back to sleep (with two other dogs, not yorkies) not waking up and everyone in the house alsleep nothing works. By the way, I just want to have another hour of sleep. I get up at! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | have you tried putting her pen in another room so that you cannot hear the whining? as long as she's ok in her pen a little whining isn't going to hurt. i'd put it in a different room and just ignore her. she's getting used to the routine of getting up at 5am and in my opinion you need to break it. i would hate to have to continually get up at 5am as she gets older. at 5 months i think morgan may have been holding it till 6am. i'd take her out and then put her right back in her crate and tell her to go back to sleep. her crate was in my room and she didn't whine like yours. now she'll stay in bed till i get up no matter what the time.

| Both of my babies sleep with me...always have....they sleep thru the night! And sleep in as LATE as I do...Maybe she's just lonely.....not sure what your ideas are about having her sleep with you...but it might be worth a try...esp. if it means you getting a good nights sleep.....or move her pen into another room....like someone else said....Good luck!

| Sophie used to keep us up at night too, getting up several times throughout the night to go pottie! Since she's getting older, she's sleeping through the night! Just like a baby, I think she's learning how to control her bladder! Good luck! |

| maybe try taking her for a long walk in the evening. If she still needs to potty at five, take her out and then put her back in the kennel and put the kennel in another room if she cries. she'll get used to it just pick something and be consistent
