Oh ok, I guess I was thinking of a toddlers sock or something, you're right when they are super tiny a child's sock could work better. I think when Joey was about 2 1/2 pounds a woman's sock worked well. Mainly you are trying to get something that will open up enough to go around the body, the length you can cut any size.

When mine were that tiny I took a sleeve from a sweatshirt cut it to length that was needed.Cut a tad longer than needed you can always cut more off later and figure out where to cut the holes for the front legs with a pair of sissors.Then folded down the cuff into a turtle neck and slip it over their head.Vola...a very small sweater.No sewing skills needed.If you need sweatshirts cheap think Goodwill or local thrift shop.You get two sweaters per sweatshirt what a bargain! And really is very easy.

i would definatly for with a xxs, my little toby is 1yr old and weighs a little under 3 lbs and he wears xxs, i put some xs on him , but when i take him outside to potty i have to roll them up because they are too long on him.
