Oh ok, I guess I was thinking of a toddlers sock or something, you're right when they are super tiny a child's sock could work better. I think when Joey was about 2 1/2 pounds a woman's sock worked well. Mainly you are trying to get something that will open up enough to go around the body, the length you can cut any size.
