New mommy times two! I just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to this site. I recently lost my 12 yr old poodle. I was so distraught I didn't think I would adopt another dog. Well I have fallen in love with two yorkie puppies. My babies will come home next week. My girl will be 9 weeks and my boy will be 12 weeks. Any advice is welcome. It's been a long time since I've had a puppy in the house. I am soooooooo excited!

It almost breaks my heart to read that someone lost a beloved pet and then didn't adopt another ASAP because they were afraid to leave themselves so vulnerable again . I have found that a new pup eases the pain immensely, and nothing is better to wipe away tears than puppy kisses. The new pup will never replace the lost friend, but your heart will expand to accept another. And the pain is eased with the joy of caring for a new baby ... Now, that being said: I am so happy that you feel ready to accept a new pup into your home, let alone TWO of them . Congratulations - you are going to have so much fun! I'd be lyin' if I said there wouldn't be challenges, too - but you're going to have SO much fun ... I have 2 Yorkies, also. Mine are both 2 now (Bella had a birthday yesterday!), and they are 2 months apart in age. These are my first small dogs ... but if I'd had Yorkies first, I don't think I would have ever considered other breeds. These little dogs will bring so much joy, you'll find it hard to believe that such *tiny* creatures can will fill your heart and soul so completely. Enjoy the journey.

Get them both fixed before your girl comes into heat the first time, and congrats.

| So very sorry to hear about your beloved poodle. I totally understand, I lost my 2 cats within a year of each other. Wanted to say hello, welcome and congratulations! 2 will definitely keep you busy and probably frustrate you a little but at the end of the day, it will be all worth it when they are snuggled up next to you, on you, and in your face. lol All kidding aside, Congratulatons on you new babies.

do I crate both puppies together? Thanks everyone for your well wishes and advice. I am sooooooo excited. I know this will be a fun and challenging journey! I will be seeking much needed advice in the weeks/months/years to come. I do plan on getting them fixed ASAP! I would like advice on crating them together as pups. They are not siblings. The breeder said to crate them together as puppies. I seem to read a lot of conflicting information on the web about this issue. thanks

Mine had separate crates at night to sleep, but they were right next to each other. When they were nearly a year old, they'd go in their crates by themselves, and I left the door open for them. Later, they'd decide for themselves where they'd sleep. I got them a 5-step stairs that allows them to sleep in bed with us, and before long, that's where they were. Now they start the night off with me, then gravitate elsewhere, sometimes even back to their crate. So I don't know what to suggest to you ... but do what your heart says, and they'll be OK.
