Mine had separate crates at night to sleep, but they were right next to each other. When they were nearly a year old, they'd go in their crates by themselves, and I left the door open for them. Later, they'd decide for themselves where they'd sleep. I got them a 5-step stairs that allows them to sleep in bed with us, and before long, that's where they were. Now they start the night off with me, then gravitate elsewhere, sometimes even back to their crate.

So I don't know what to suggest to you ... but do what your heart says, and they'll be OK.
