| I am just so pissed off with my vet, right after I wrote my last msg, I went in with Bailey and he was shaking, his face looked very blank looking, I gave him some syrup right away and shortly after the shaking stopped. I fed him some vegetables and right now I am waiting for an egg to cool off. Bailey is crying his little heart out, I am sure he is in pain , the vet tech told me he didn't need anything! Also he was trying to lick his stitches and I had to put a sweater on him so he could get at them so easily. Also the vet cut off his pee string! I don't know if that is normal or not. I just hope he is not in to much pain though, The vet can't be reached, you only get an answering machine, I've left a msg, but no one called me, which is not unusual where I live! Thank for the post everyone, I appreciate you all!

If you put a sweater on him, make sure it isn't touching his stitches, that will cause irritation. Or if the sweater does touch his stitches, you can stick a thin ladies sanitary pad inside the sweater right over where his wound is, that will keep the sweater from irritating it Hope he feels better real soon, big hugs to your little guy!!

| I am sorry he isnt feeling well. That is how Peanut was too! It was very hard to deal with I didnt know what he needed and what was the best thing to do. He was shaking and not eating not really sleeping he couldnt find a good spot he wanted to lay bc he was in pain..ergh it was horrible!! I gave Peanut Pedalyght and some boiled chicken and rice, I put on the heating pad on low for him and even the first 2 night I slept with him on the floor! Keep up your good Mommy skills and he will be back to normal in a couple days... It took Peanut about 3

| Stitches: Have you heard about putting a baby onsie on him backwards so his tail sticks our off the crotch opening. That works for some, but Skeeter had to wear an e-collar to keep him from messing with his stitches. Also you can still use something like Bitter Apple around the area even if you don't put it directly on the stitches. Exercise: It is really hard to keep a puppy quiet even after surgery. Do you have stairs for him to use instead of letting him jump on and off the couch or bed. He will try jumping and even if you are right there you can't always stop him. No running, wrestling or tugging right now. Gentle play with soft toys will be ok and if you can't have him right there with you put him in an XPen or crate. I'm glad he is feeling better today. I know a lot of vets won't give pain meds because they think the pain keeps them quiet since they tend to hunker down but for anyone reading this that will soon be going through the same thing - insist on something for the pain at least for the first 24 hours home. |
