I know a lot of people would do any thing to take care of their dogs. Even those without a lot of money. I did not mean to offend anyone.
It takes a lot of courage to admit when you made a mistake. Well done.

I do agree with you re: the 5 college students who combined their money to buy a puppy -- just terrible.

Bella, Coco bear is soooo lucky to have you for a mommy. You give her everything she needs and MORE. She's one the happiest little doggies I know.

Thanks Jen! Yes she is. I have basically sacrificed my social life to take her to the dogpark and her playdates for like 2 hours a night after work. She knows she has it good..haha...I hope sometime soon I can get her a little sister. I know that I would take just as good care of her as I have with Coco, with what little money I have.

I know you are a special Yorkie Mom.
I have an emergency credit card too, just in case.
I set this one to the side, and only will use it if I have to for any of my four legged babies. I pray they stay healthy, but you just never know. I'm the same way with all my babies, I take them to the store, one a t a time, so they can pick out their own toys. The girls at the store always ask me why I keep coming back with a different dog on the same day. (she calls them dogs!!) I tell them it's my babies time with mommy to pick out a toy.

They are so lucky to have you as their mommy. You are sooooo luck to have 4 WHOLE YORKIES!!! I'm struggling to get my second one sometime this year. But Coco has enough playdates per day to feel like I have more than one. They are always coming over..hehe.

I did not have all the money to pay for both of my yorkies but I made 3 payments and my yorkies was paid for. I might not of had the money to drop down all at once but during the time it took me to pay for my yorkies I got to know my breeders really good. And I am thankfull for that. I was smart enough to make sure I have health insurance plan for them. I don't agree with the pet stores acting like rent-a-center either. If you are a breeder and you know that your puppy be love by a family that can't afford $1000 price and you know they will take care of your pup and you can cut them some slack on the price. Hey I'm for that too.

I actully waited 3 years for my tax return to finally do it. I would have loved the payment option that some might have, that way I could have had a baby sooner. And just because someone cant afford that amount up front should not be a factor if they will be good parents to the furbabies. I have in fact not only taken great care of my dog and feed her the right kinds of foods, I get all the vet care she needs. For exmample I cannot think of many people who would have spent 1500 dollars on an ally cat to give birth to her last kitten, I did, because I loved her, and to me it wasnt a question. Although I did here from my vet many would have just put her and the other kittens down, however I paid for an emergency c section on a Sunday morning (3am) plus paid for care of her babies for the first several hours while mom was in recovery. Now, I did have to make payments on that as well, but I made them and never questioned weather or not I should take her in. To say that because someone cant afford 1200-1500 up front for a pup means they wont spend the money on a vet, is in MHO discrimination. I know there are many like me, and would never put our babies in harms way, the problem is some breeders dont care they care about the money. If I knew someone would make a good mommy, and trust me I do interview before hand, I would make arragements for payment.
You took the words right out of my mouth! Well Said!

I'm going to add to this post, albeit a little late. At first I thought the same, if you don't have the money, save up or adopt a yorkie. Then, after reading through these posts, maybe there are times when a loving match is present, only money is keeping it apart. So, perhaps when the breeder recognizes a special situation, they know in their heart when it is ok to accept payments. I'm not as comfortable with petstores because I do think they are in the business to sell and aren't careful about how the little furbaby will be cared for in the end, just whether the card will go through or not. It is also in the news often that young people are so in debt to credit cards, the average is somewhere around $20,000 per cardholder. So, it begs the question, if a person cannot control their spending, can they care for a pet. Although the breeders here don't usually identify themselves, there are a couple on this site that I would definitely try to buy from when I get my third yorkie, they are so good. Both the breeders I bought from accepted cash/check in full and asked a lot of questions of me before accepting me as a buyer, so I respect that and respect those that want either a significant deposit or payment in full first. I got Lacey after a person told the breeder she wanted her but did not follow up with a deposit, so I got her and she's a dollbaby. I know I am fortunate, not rich, but have worked long enough that I have money saved, but honestly, I waited so long and was so scared I'd lose my two, I couldn't wait to send money and have my babies in my arms.
