| Yorkie Rescue having surgery today! Hi, I just found this thread. One of our YT members has a foster that is having expensive othopedic surgery today. I just wanted to "bump" this post up again. Hopefully, anyone who can help with donations will see it and be able to help.

Thank you for bumping this up......and..........I would like to say thank you for your donation yesterday! He's in surgery now and hopefully Ladyjane will be popping in for an update soon. But for now here is Rookie's story October 14, 2009 - Rookie was seen by the orthopedic specialist today and was admitted for surgery tomorrow. Please help if you can. The estimated cost of this surgical repair is $3,000. October 13, 2009 - Well, for starters, I was hit by a car in March. The doctor fixed me up real good and put a pin in my leg. After my leg healed, the pin was taken out. My next tragedy was when I re-broke my leg in the very same place(possibly jumping off of a sofa) about a month or two ago. I have been holding my leg up and it has been dangling for about a month or more; and my owner said she could not afford to fix it again. So, you can imagine how excited I was when she turned me over to Yorkie Haven Rescue who immediately took me to a vet for an x-ray that confirmed that my leg is broken and the bone is rubbing against bone which is very painful; and I am finally on pain medicine. Tomorrow, my foster mom, is taking me to a special doctor. She told me he's a wiz with legs and that if anyone can fix my leg it is him! I hope he can because I heard the other vet say that this is a bad thing since it has been so long. All I know, is I want to run and play like I did before without all of this horrible pain.

| awww thanks Pam and Jodi! I am sorry it has taken so long to update everyone, but, once again I spent my day trying to save another yorkie. I really do NOT get it...seems to be every single day lately. This one is safe for tonight...he is young..probably only about a year old..no microchip and my groomer, bless her heart, is shaving him down because he was so badly matted. The people who found him are going to take him to their vet today for shots. Sadly, if I cannot find another group to take him, he is going to end up in the shelter...BUT the good news is that it is a shelter where I know the director and they do adoptions and are very picky about who gets the pups...he will not be euthanized. OK....ROOKIE...is out of surgery and that is all I know right now. They called me at 1:30 PM and told me that I will receive another call later on to give me more details about how the surgery went. Thank you, thank you, thank you for thinking of this little guy and for the donation!

| Linda, If he is not a haven pup could I foster him? Is he good with other pups? I do not mind the cost of vetting and feeding. My guys are due for shots and such, what is one nore right? (I say "one more" because I know how you are)

| I just don't want to see him in a shelter when he could be in a home. I could come pick him up over the weekend so he has somewhere to go, I can leave tomorrow after work and stay in the Houston condo. Call me, I'm leaving my office heading home now, I'll check back on here later if I don't hear from you.

| Wow! What a day this has been! I was just about to leave to meet Megan with Jack and the man called me to say he had found the owner. I went to see the owner and they gave me the money for his grooming. I tried to educate them a bit about microchips, securing their fence, and hw preventatives. Poor guy is not on any. I am sad, but he is their dog. I got a call from the surgeon...they are happy with the results of the surgery on Rookie. I will be bringing him home tomorrow. Thank you SO much, Megan, for offering to foster!!!

| He is doing well! He was a bit upset about the crate at first, but has settled down now. He had a bone graft, so it was a bit painful for him. Here is a pic ...
