But, no, I do not believe it is accurate. How would they really know the numbers?

As for a server for YT...I imagine the cost runs somewhere over $100 and no more than $400....I seriously doubt it is in the top range.

It does have to be paid for somehow...and I don't know what other ways the admin has to pay for it. I just would personally not use the google ads.

I was under the impression that he had servers and was pretty much just running YT as a side thing; but I might have been told something totally incorrect. Many people do that. They have websites or other online things that make money and they donate part of the server.

Many people donate server space to rescues.

OK I just ran two websites on cubestat that I have access to information on and they were both very incorrect!

Oh, well, so much for cubestat. There are other tracking sites but maybe they're off, too. I can't imagine a banner ad bringing in very much, though. Of course, there's also the highlighted words in posts that take you to sites if you click on them. They can be a real nuisance sometimes with the pop-ups.

I imagine YorkieTalk takes quite a bit of server space with all the archived threads and member profiles, photos and such. My son and my brother both have websites off the same server account but they're nowhere on the scale of YorkieTalk so I guess there is some real expense incurred. All in all, this is a great site and I can live with the ads.

It is not a huge cost to run a site like this if you have a server already; and honestly even if you do not. But..that all depends on what someone thinks is a huge cost.
I agree...I don't care about the ads and will continue to use YT. I just think that if it is a money thing, there might be other ways to get that money. It was simply my feedback on the topic.
There really IS money to be made on banner ads! Trust me on that one!
That does not mean that YT is making a ton of money on those ads, it is merely saying that there IS money to be made on links!

I have spent so much money on books , I have been on the internet for ever, reading doing research on Yorkie, before I got my first furbaby , and after, and one day I happen to find Yt, OMG !! the most excited day of my life , well one of the most excited day of my life Lol !!!
I have learn so much here , It's Priceless, If I had to pay for all the valuable information , that I have found here, I would be in the poor house for sure and It's Free. $ 25.00 is peanut when u compare the education, the help from other owner, but most of all the wonderful caring breeder that jump in to help any of us that needs them Priceless . Whenever one of us needed some comfort and care , A hand to hold onto, you've always been there- It's made a difference, and one day It will be my turn to give you the same kind of Love and concern..
I myself buy Planner and Calendar every year with Yorkie's of cause. I will buy my Calendar here for sure, I wish they will go into Planner for 2 years at a time, and I will buy that too.
Thank you to The Admin and all the Yt members, for just being there when we as Yorkie parents need each other. This is my new Yorkie family , that understand my needs and wants.

2 out of 100 get a sick dog then i got sh@! on because all 4 my dogs came with something. or got something soon after i got them. And i got them from good breeders people on here. two had a cold one had ringworm and one had a butt bug (intestinal parasite.) not life threatening but they are puppies they get stuff just like kids do i guess . i agree i don't like pet stores. never know where they come from or who their parents are.

Google handles some of the ads that we have on here. The ads are served based on what the thread is about. We do not control which ads may show up here. Without ads, YorkieTalk could not survive in its current state, as there are significant costs with running a site with a community this large, from software to server costs to database administration.
