| What a great looking guy. He will repay you many many times over for adopting him . Do not hesitate to ask YTers for help or to brag about your good looking pup. Just be patient he will quickly re learn his potty training. Keep us posted on his surgery. Don't rush the food transition.

| Congrats on your new furbaby. I would take him out every 30 minutes just to give him the idea that you go outside to pipi, then stretch it out... name the deed and when he does it, praise and give him a small cheerio, right then so he associates the deed with oh boy, I'm going to get a treat. Perhaps get a few belly bands in case he decides to lift his leg and mark. Let him go into his crate with a bully stick or other toy so he can get used to being in the crate and see that the crate is a good place for him. Mine let me know they have to go potty by smacking a bell connected to a leash on the back door knob. Best of luck.

| Thanks for the great ideas! I never thought about a cheerio. ![]() My daughter is 15 with a developmental delay diagnosis. We have had a really tough month this month and she has been very down. My dad died and my husband left us. This was the ticket to bring a smile on her face! |

| What a cutie!! Congratulations!! You will not regret a rescue. We picked Freedom up last week. He is almost 8yrs old. He is our 5th rescue and they are all awesome!! We happen to feed Taste of the Wild. We are switching Freedom to TOTW from wellness now. Freedom is still wearing a belly band. He came to us potty trained but has lifted his leg a few times. Mostly because we missed his cues. You may want to consider one until his habits are known. Congratulations again!! Its so awsome that you were able to bring a rescue into you home! |

| How do you recommend using the belly band? I am taking him out every 30 and he has marked twice in the house when I took my eyes off of him |

| Thank-you for giving this sweet little boy a loving home. I rescued Sophie one month ago at 18 months old. I also have Lola 4 years. Sophie has adjusted beautifully to her new life here, and is such a sweetheart. I'm sure you will have as much a rewarding experience as I have had. As for food Google "Whold Dog Journal" list of approved foods and you will get a large list of excellent quailty foods. ![]() ![]()

I would use a treat when he does good potty. These guys are smart and he should catch on quickly. I use Peanut Butter Chips from the baking isle, the are very small, but soooooooooooo effective ![]() I got a belly band from and they are so well made! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...4-75-each.html | |

Congradulations . Was he already potty trained? One thing about males is that they do mark, hopfully after he is neutered the behavior will stop. I don't want to confuse him if he has been potty trained aready, however if not , I'd suggest laying down dog pads , it has a scent on them , and dogs will pee on it. Just to save some of the headache for a while , until your precious boy becomes adjusted to his new home. How many homes has he lived? Do you know of any behavioral issues he has had in the past? He is so gorgeous , I am happy that he is in a great hom with you and your daughter. I have a 16yr old son who is D.D. Yorkie's make the best of friends for our kids

| My Scarlet came from a breeder who was "not a puppy mill." Scarlet had no concept of being a pet. The first night when I came home from work, she hid from me and I cried. She was 5 years old and did not understand the concept of playing with toys. She had to have more than half of her teeth pulled as apparently she had no had them cleaned and did not have hard things to chew to remove tartar either. Well things changed slowly but surely. She still does not meet strangers well, but she loves her Mama. I got a chest type carrier and she went wherever I went if at all possible. She is 11 now and very affectionate and a real joy! She loves to be all clean and pretty. Just take your time with your new Yorkie. Love on that sweet Yorkie and it will all work out!
