My Scarlet came from a breeder who was "not a puppy mill." Scarlet had no concept of being a pet. The first night when I came home from work, she hid from me and I cried. She was 5 years old and did not understand the concept of playing with toys. She had to have more than half of her teeth pulled as apparently she had no had them cleaned and did not have hard things to chew to remove tartar either. Well things changed slowly but surely. She still does not meet strangers well, but she loves her Mama. I got a chest type carrier and she went wherever I went if at all possible. She is 11 now and very affectionate and a real joy! She loves to be all clean and pretty. Just take your time with your new Yorkie. Love on that sweet Yorkie and it will all work out!
