looking for a small tiny yorkie breeders any help?

i rescued Molly when she was 2 years old and we have bonded so well..she is like my little shadow, so dont worry about not bonding. She weighs in at 16lbs and still seems small, so a 4lbs yorkie is seriously small.

I live in Ma also, where are you getting your new puppy from and did I read it correctly are you getting your new pup at 7-8 weeks old????

A yorkie girl will probably bond better to a male owner and a yorkie boy will bond better to a female owner. Thats what I see and hear when reading threads. I have 2 boys, they are brothers from the same litter, same parents. One is 5.5lbs and has the shortest little legs and body, he is compact. The other is long and lean and weighs in around 10lbs! The small guy was the largest one in the litter and when I took them home at 9 weeks he was bigger than his brother! You just never know what you'll get.

Also my vet did their shots at 15 months old and they weighed 6.2lbs and 4.4lbs. At 18 months they had a growth spurt and ended up weighing 9.5lbs and 5.5lbs. So again you just never know when they are done growing and how big they will be.

I think 6 - 7lbs is a perfect size for a pup, not too small where you worry constantly but still small enough to carry around without breaking your arm off!

I read that when you do get your male he will be 8 weeks old. There is no way the breeder can predict what weight he will be. So, he may be a tiny himself, or he may wind up being over standard (over 7 pounds). A general guess about weight is to triple the 8 week weight or to double the 12 week weight. But many on here have posted that their dogs either had a growth spurt and surpassed that guesstimate or stopped growing early and were much smaller. So, even with the formula, it is a guess.

I think your breeder is selling her puppies way too soon. Reputable breeders will not let puppies leave until they are at least 12 weeks old, especially when they have to be shipped! Instead of looking for a certain weight of puppies, I suggest you do some research here about how to find a reputable breeder and then just go for a healthy puppy. Or as suggested earlier in the thread, wait until you have had your little male for a while and then decide if that is what you still want to do. I do like the idea of having more than one. That way when we do have to go somewhere or get busy, they still have company. But you have to be sure that is what you really want. It is double the expense, double the mess, and double the attention that you need to provide. In return it is also double the joy!

I always recommend that people who want a Yorkie that is a specific size, find an adult dog, that's the only way to really be sure.

I am not trying to offend anyone here, but I think it is kind of sad that everyone is so concerned with the "SIZE" of what the yorkie is going to be..Shouldn't they be more worried on the "health" of the puppy??

When I got peanut I had no idea what size he was going to be! I didn't see his parents, I didn't ask how big they were, I didn't care. All I knew is that when I saw him I feel in LOVE with him. I just cared that he was a healthy puppy!! I would love him if he turned out to be 10 lbs!!

If you want a yorkie, you want a yorkie no matter what size your yorkie turns out to be he/she is still a yorkie. No matter what size they are , they are all beautiful!!

Yeah, I agree with this, I think it's sad that so many people just look at size, and overlook so many other qualities. Health is definitely the most important, but I've even read of people saying that they don't mind if its a liver shunt baby, if it's small. Liver shunt babies are often undersized due to the illness.

Mmmm...I don't think everyone is so concerned with size. I think many made a point to tell of their different sized dogs that they loved regardless of size. I wrote, "Instead of looking for a certain weight of puppies, I suggest you do some research here about how to find a reputable breeder and then just go for a healthy puppy" So, I think most of the posts are trying to get the OP to see past her first inclination of wanting her priority to be a certain weight.

That is horrible!! I think if people really "knew" the breed they wouldn't care what size they were A lot of these people dont research they just see them and see how cute they are and that some of them are small..and thats all they want!

Before you get a tiny one I hope you consider how easily they can be injured. A jump off the couch and they could have a broken leg. I used to want a small one too untill I saw so many sick or injured ones on here. I think 5-7 lbs is a good weight

I agree with your last comment. My boy is 6 lbs give or take an oz and he is so small to me. (you have to understand I volunteer for an animal shelter so I'm use to working with bigger dogs) He is sturdy so I don't worry about him as much, but he's still small enough that I can carry him around and cuddle him like a human baby. He does get underfoot and has been stepped on quite a lot, I'm still not use to having such a tiny baby!!

I wish I had found Yorkie Talk before I bought my boys and got more advice and knowledge. My boys were 9 weeks old when I picked them up, too young to be away from their mommy! They suffered from seperation anxiety and still do to a certain degree. I cannot recommend more highly to buy your dog from a local breeder where you can go and look at the living conditions, see the parents with your own eyes. A breeder saying AKC registered pups does not mean they are a good breeder.

Also Tiny pups can come with many many health problems. You want to look for a pup in the standard range of 5 - 7lbs. Please don't keep breeders who breed toy yorkies, teacup yorkies, etc... in business, don't feed them business. Those 'types' of yorkies do not exsist. The breeder will breed the runts of 2 litters to try to get smaller and smaller pups resulting in poor health and quality. They may be cute, but they may cause you nothing but heartache and a very broke wallet.

Knowledge here is key! I want to help you all out with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your pups, bringing them home, buying them, breeders, etc... I am also from MA star28c so if I can help you with anything just give me a shout!

I wish you all nothing but the best of luck, health and happiness with your new furkids when they come home! Yorkies are a joy! I love every minute with my boys! I got extremely lucky given my ignorance when I decided to buy yorkies and my boys are healthy and happy, but next time I buy a dog (any breed really) I'll do much more research on breeders and what is standard/healthy for that breed of dog!

Oh yeah! I have a 9.5lber and a 5.5lber! The size difference is incredible. These are brothers from the same litter, so same parents. I saw the Dad who was about 7lbs but the mom would not come out from the back room so I didn't get to see her. (wish I did) My little guy is soooo little! I couldn't imagine smaller than 5lbs. I wouldn't want one smaller than that. He is always ALWAYS around my feet. If he were smaller I think he'd be dead by now, sad to think of! He has been stepped on by accident a few times, but now we've all learned how to do the yorkie shuffle and never pick your feet up off the floor! LOL My big guy at 9.5lbs is soo sturdy and strong, I never worry about him with the jumping or anything... well a little bit .. I mean 9.5lbs is still a small dog!

7/8 weeks is waaay to young for a Yorkie pup to be placed in its new home. If you DO find a breeder willing to let them go that young, that should send up a huge red flag that you should likely move on and look for a different, responsbile breeder.
