Marley has peed on my bed before never pooped though. She has pooped on the couch a couple times , thats why I kept blankets on them for the longest time. Thank god the blankets were on the couch when she did poop. I get so mad when she pees on my bed, its only happened like 3X but its the point. I have to rip off the sheets, steam clean the mattress.. Grr I feel your pain. I don't have any advice though, I just hope in good faith they don't do it again. Just letting you know that your bed isnt the only one that has been turned into a public restroom

Emmett did that at night when he was a baby... but he stopped when he got old enough to either A) hold it through the night or B) jump off the bed at night on his own.

Has Teddy been stressed? That can cause weird bathroom behaviors.

Fergus has never (thank god) done this. But Hamish does "anger pee" on things.

If we are in the pool he works himself into a total state running around the edge barking at the splashes so we keep him IN the house if we are playing in the pool with a lot of kids or splashing....well, he doesn't like to be in if we are out and if he gets angry he pees right in front of the door we use to come in from the pool or on my kitchen island (about 3 feet away). He only does this if we exclude him from something or he is mad.

He is the only dog I have ever had would willingly, hike a leg intentionally. (and I want to note that Hamish can "hold it" like 11 hours! he has plenty of times if we sleep late or something)

so, ask yourself if YOU or someone close to you is doing something he doesn't like. He is sending you signals.

Glad to know I am not the only one. I washed my sheets on Saturday and when me and the hubby got in bed, as I was pulling the covers up to get in, the sheet rubbed right across my face, and it was nice and wet. I couldn't believe it this had never happened before. So I thought ewwww how many more times has this happened that I don't know about. So I decided to go buy me one of those urine finder blacklights. So happily I discovered that this isn't going on frequently. Unfortunatly it also shows dust....Wow I need to clean tomorrow. LOL

OMG I feel your pain. Mia used to do this until I fugured out that she was afraid of jumpimg of the the bed. As soon as I got her steps so she can go on and off the bed. I feel her at night running to her wee wee pads.
Hope this helps.

This has happened to me on a few occasions and both mariska and majik being young.. I was never sure who was doing it.. both could go up and down off the bed so not sure..
But in my rv.. I sit at the table with my puter.. and one did a pp twice where I sit.. so now I have one of their pillow beds there and I sit on it.. no pp since then in that spot..
But it can be a huge pain in the butt to have to strip bedding especially on the times the bedding was just changed the day before..
I now keep them out of bedroom when in the rv.. and unless at night they are not in my bedroom at night to do this..
So I too feel your pain... anne

Rockie peed a few times on my daughters bed, never mine. Good thing she'd kept the plastic on her mattress because it was a new bed. He was younger when those few times occurred, he is 2 1/2 now. No more peeing in beds.

I saw an episode of "Its Me or The Dog" where this lady was having the same problem. Basically it boiled down to who was showing who was the boss. Dog trainers always say, discipline first, then exercise, then affection. Have you tried obedience classes?

He did it again...well peed..i need a matress cover. I was thinking maybe he does it cause he's mad that im not here but he's done it twice when i wasn't here and twice when i was here...but i was in the living room and i let him roam around the house wherever he wants..so idk he jumps up and down the bed as he likes..i tell you, i dont think i am ever getting a male again. I love Teddy but out of all my dog's i've had he's been the hardest to potty train...Sophie and london got it right away..no accidents, no marking, nada...geesh. i know there are male dogs that are 100% potty trained but i havent had such luck with them I guess when i am not here i will just have to put a baby diaper on him or something cause i can't lock him up..i've never done that. i really dont know...but he must know it's wrong cause as soon as he sees that i see what he did he looks guilty

Awe don't let one male dog ruin it for you LoL I told myself when I was getting another dog that I was gonna get another female. I got a boy, and he was THE EASIEST to potty train. I swear to you, 4 days and he had it down pat at 10 weeks old. Marley is a different story. She is the one that peed on my bed. Granted I got her at 8 months from a pet store here where she was used to wallowing in her own feces in a cage all day for 8 months ( breaks my heart just thinking about it). I don't get upset with her though, I understand she tries her hardest. Enough with my rambling.. I would get him a belly band.. no diaper...nothing wrong with diapers though, just my personal preference. And I know you can always see if he has a UTI or some other infection at the vet if this doesn't stop. I thought it was odd that since my husband isnt home ( been out on business for a month ) that she peed on his side 2 times ( out of the 3 or 4 times that shes done it ) . Maybe she is telling me that " This is my spot now " LOL

You just have to use the crate. I know it seems mean but really you are just supporting your puppy's success. It really does work. Even for older dogs. They do whine, but it subsides. It really is harder for us in the begining, we love them so much and just don't want to "lock them up". But it really is best for them.

When left alone they have to be in a crate and also at night. Once they are potty trained(meaning they can show you they want outside(either standing at the door or barking at the door or ringing a bell at the door) and consistently go in their potty place) then give him a bit more freedom.

If they have more accidents then back to the crate training. Record pee times so you can look back and see if peeing is really becoming more frequent or you are forgetting to take him out. Or maybe he is peeing more and has an infection. Recording all potty and feed times, nap times on a chart is so valuable I find. Give treats always for good pottys outside in their potty place. Also, really consider getting rid of the indoor pottying on pads. Most dogs I think, need a bigger separation of where it is ok and not ok to "go". We are using a small fenced off area in the yard and even if our dog pees outside of this area, we correct her by placing her back in this area. Eventually she will see that this area is her "toilet" and no where else.

Our puppy is 16 weeks and runs and sits at the back door (even in the middle of play) to go do her #2. She is regular with her #1's about 90% of the time. Pee takes longer to learn. I think they just can't feel it as well as a #2 coming!

Good luck with this, I am sorry your Teddy is stressing you. He is so sweet.

Here is a good youtube link on Potty training.

Also, try the The Loved Dog by Tamar Geller, it is a life changing book for people and dogs. Her training approach and life philosophies improve all areas of dog and people behavior, I loved this book. She has a website too and some video clips as well.

Hope something here helps.

Mary
