| Bumping this old thread after a search because I was wondering if my Keegan is the only Yorkie who fakes sneezes to get people to say, "Bless you!" He does it repeatedly if he's enjoying the attention and will throw his paw into it for added drama from time to time. He didn't do this before we got his little sister, so I guess it's a safe form of attention-seeking. He's hilarious and enthusiastic about this game, so I don't mind "blessing" him several times to keep him happy. |

| It could be something like the reverse sneeze. Some of these little dogs have a very sensitive trachea area that can constrict when they get excited. A variety of strange noises can result. Some can become almost uncontrollable especially as they get older. My little one has this issue especially when we first get home. She gets so excited that she starts making a very sneeze/honk like noise. I have to pick her up so she calms down and starts to breath calmly. |

| lol I forgot about this thread! So cute reading all the stories. Sometimes I can prompt Turk to "sneeze" if I say, "aww, TurkTurk...do you have allergies/a cold??" then he'll take his mark and sneeze. The dramatic head throw gets me every time. We need to get these silly antics on video and posted! |

| My poodle used to sneeze if she was insulted, like "I spray snot in your general direction." Example: "You're a punk!" *sneeze* |

| OMG this is soo funny! Momo does these sneezes too, it's deliberate & when he's trying to say something. Like when he wants me to retrieve the ball he purposely knocked off the sofa & under the table. 'Get my ball' lolll!

| The Yorkie girls don't do this, but the poodle does. We also have sneezing conversations... she sneezes, then I sneeze. They're just so funny.

| Enzo does this sneeze thing too! It's when I'm not paying enough attention to him or when he wants me to lift him on the bed lol They are full of character, these little angels, that's for sure!

| It is very easy, actually, to take a naturally occurring behavior like a reverse sneeze and inadvertently (or on purpose) reinforce it (like with attention) so that the behavior occurs "on purpose". If your baby reversed sneezed naturally and you paid lots of attention and she liked the attention, she may have learned that doing it more would get your attention more. These guys are so very smart. Good idea to just make sure there are no trachea issues/airway impediments. That would make a cute meme. Know anyone who can make one of her doing that? |
