Wow.....I can't believe there are people that think Yorkie kisses are gross!!! Then again....I don't go out much! lol Lucky has no restrictions for kissezzz....he can kiss mommy all he wants!! I kiss him right back, honestly, I would feel hurt if he didn't give me kisses!! lol
I know I brush his teeth, and what he's eating.....his breath is always fresh!! lol
So, yeah ....IMO, Yorkie kisses are proven to be a cure for anything that makes you sad! lol

Mine love kissing everywhere including my mouth. I don't encourage it, not because of my feelings, but hubby gets grossed out. Their really smart, and try to get them in when dad's not looking.

Sometimes the kisses can get annoying when they go on and on but for the most part I love it!!! My babies love to give kisses and I love to give them kisses too!

I love kisses and my dogs love drinking out of my water glass. I will get myself a fresh glass of water and they both come over and say why not and start drinking!! lol

Roxie is sneaky with her kisses, you can have her in your lap and I will be on the computer or watching tv and she will kiss me, or as others have stated I get a tongue up the nose..haha..Its like shes saying hey dont forget im here!

Me too!!!! I feel so special and I love it when Samy gives me kisses.. he definitely aims for the mouth but I direct his kisses to my nose as they are way too many, so it is usually 50-50 aim with him.. I get kisses all over my face and ear hahahah... he is the biggest kisser I know and his breath smells nice - minty fresh - he loves his tooth paste

I used to have a Great Dane - he was taught not to give any kisses or jump at people - he was huge

Umm, sorry, but ewww! I love my Yorkie and he loves licking my hands and if I let him I'm sure he would lick other places, but ewww. I totally agree with the OP. Would it change if your dog was drooly, 115 pounds +. When do you say no.

Our pups are probably as clean as they get, don't eat poop, (that I know of). I'm glad people feel free to have their pups lick them where ever but it's definitely not for everyone. And as someone said that the OP will learn to love it, I don't think so. I've had animals for years and I always wash my hands before I touch food. Maybe I'm just a speciest, but I know that my husband wouldn't like to share my mouth with our dogs!! Each to their own... !

I don't like mouth kisses much from other dogs, especially if their teeth don't get brushed.

I do the same thing. Prince is my baby and we (me, my husband and Prince) kiss all of the time.

sorry, me too. I love my Maddie to pieces, but I have seen where her mouth goes! She comes in from doing her business outside, licks her hoo ha clean, and then wants to put her tongue in MY mouth? I don't think so!! Not to mention I have seen what she will eat/try to eat in the back yard. I may be a clean freak too, but she does give me kisses on the cheek and loves to lick my hands, but I always wash my hands afterwards. I did read somewhere that it is a myth that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's. Will have to look that up.

I MAKE Teddi give me kisses. She is always kissing everyone else but she doesn't give me kisses that much so I tell her "give mamma a kiss" and she will give me one lick!! I don't like other people's dogs to kiss me because I don't know their habits but I know that Teddi never licks her butt or pee pee so I don't mind her giving me kisses and I try to encourage it!!

Dogs do not have any extra special antiseptic qualities to their saliva at all. Humans and most mammals have the same enzyme (I think it's called lysozyme, anyways yup it sounds like lysol ;-)

Here's some interesting stories I've read of cases of serious infection following the licking of wounds by pets:

* A diabetic man was infected by Pasteurella dagmatis due to the licking of his injured toe by his dog, causing a spinal infection.
* A woman recovering from knee surgery suffered a persistent infection of the knee with Pasteurella after her dog licked a small wound on her toe.
* A dog lick to an Australian woman's minor burn caused septicemia and necrosis due to Capnocytophaga canimorus infection, resulting in the loss of all her toes, fingers and a leg!!
* C. Canimorsus caused acute renal failure due to septicemia in a man whose open hand wound was licked by his dog.
* A 68 year old man died from septicemia and necrotizing fasciitis after a wound was licked by his dog.
* A seven-week old boy contracted menigitis due to Pasteurella from contact with pet saliva!!

I didn't say a dog's mouth was sterile or had antiseptic quallities, but rather that they are cleaner in the sense that the bacteria they do carry tend to be species specific and less transferable to humans versus a human bite or even a human kiss.

In addition, human bites tend to be deeper, increasing the risk of infection.

Obviously any one who is immune compromised by age or disease is at greater risk should avoid kissing or being bit by any animal.

And for the record, if my dog wants to lick me- I know what he has been eating and I know his teeth have been brushed. The tongue up the nose kind of grosses me out though...

When I ask for kisses from Haylee and the bf is around, she will make sure hes not looking before she goes in for the big one! It's the cutest thing EVER.

At the beginning I was being really protective of my face as I know I am slightly allergic to dog's saliva - but it has not bothered me at all, at least not yet...

I always aim his kisses towards my chin or nose... also hands... sometimes put my hand in front of my face so he licks my hand instead... from time to time there is an accident.. lick on the lips.. or up my nose.. but it does not gross me out.. i wash my face regularly and my hands when I touch Samy.. but I know he is clean as I supervise him a lot and I know what he eats and I wash him and brush his teeth..

But I am grossed out of other dogs.. If I touch someone elses dog, I must wash my hands and I always stay away from their kisses... yucky.. especially the big dogs with tons of saliva.. I am definitely allergic to them...
