| Ants!!! I woke up this morning with a trail of ANTS going to pnuts food bowl!!! They were EVERYWHERE!!! I took up the food and washed it out..sprayed everywhere I saw them coming out of... Luckly I am able to take peanut with me to work so I dont have to worry about him walking thru the poision or licking the floor!!!! Peanut eats like a cat its not like I can leave his food up or feed him at a certian time...so I have No idea what I am going to do about these ants!! I have heard about putting the food in a water dish and putting cinnamon around the food bowl, putting vegtable oil on the bowl, putting petroleum jelly on the bowl...I have heard all these different ways, but I want to see what you guys have done and what works, Peanuts food is not cheap and I dont want to clean up ants every morning!! Let me know what ideas you guys have!

| I put a plate underneath the food bowl and put water on it and it keeps the ants out. I get them real bad in the spring and I had an exterminator spray for them. So I havent had them for a while but just noticed some are back

| That happened to me early summer... I looked down and they were TINY little ants all crawling to Jackson's food bowl and around it. I did the same thing - just sprayed and washed the bowl out. They never came back!

You can buy ant traps at home improvement stores or Target, and even grocery stores. They have indoor and outdoor traps, and the ant stakes are great for outdoors.

| I got ant traps at target. They were the Raid ones that kill the whole colony. They smell like peanut butter (noticeably) when you first take them out, and Stella wanted to lick them at first but once she realized they smelled like peanut butter, she leaves them alone now (she hates peanut butter!). They worked pretty well for us, but we have a huge ant problem where we live in FL, so I also bought the eco-friendly ant killer, and I was surprised at how well it worked. It kills on contact but is kid and pet-friendly because the main ingredient is soybean oil. Not that they should be allowed to ingest it, but if they lick the floor afterwards (or step on it and lick their paws afterwards) at least it's not POISON. Stella was a bit over-interested in the smell after I wiped it all up, but since it's non-toxic I wasn't too worried. |
