Help my fuzzy baby! Hello all- I came upon this site by chance and hve gotten nothing but love so far which is why I am posting this thread for help. My baby has yet to have her hair grow in and she's 1.5 yrs old. I knw the parents (purebreds)and don't know why her coat hasn't come in yet. Has anyone had a breeding where a pup or two came out w/o their full puppy coat? If so any suggestions to help her coat, (she's my first YT- we have chihuahuas) one vet said add fatty acids to her diet, and she goes back to our vet this weekend.

Can you post a picture, it might help others with suggestions. I have not heard of this problem before. Does she look like she has a puppy cut or is her fur longer than that?

No, she looks like a shaved YT. B4 u ask there were no other dogs at the breeders (we know them) and she's registered. Although she's got hair issues we still love her. I have chihuahua's and bred them for some time so I know their standard and know that's not what she is or mixed with. This is why I'm looking for help from you experts. I think I uploaded the pic the correct way, if not just click on my name, its not a good pic (u can't see the long peices of hair)

Her coat doesn't look thin or sparse like she has any metabolic problem or would benefit from fatty acids. It just looks like she has a short coat. | |

Problem solved I'm glad to say that the vet aid her hormones were a little low, but she's very healthy and gave her fatty acids to aid in her coat coming in fuller and told me to be patient since the prob is most likely coming from the "bluecoat" trait on her sires side and sometimes is very slow to grow. So we'll sit back and let the meds do their magic for now. Thanks for all the positive feedback and advice!

I'm not sure, but from what he told me, it's the YT with the gunmetal blue color on their topcoat. I'll be researching more on it this week and will b sure to post what I find.
