What registry are her papers from? If they are from one of the "alternative" registries and not AKC, there is no guarantee that she is purebred. I know her breeder is a friend, but if breeders start with pet quality dogs from unknown backgrounds, they have no idea what sort of puppies they will produce.
Her coat doesn't look thin or sparse like she has any metabolic problem or would benefit from fatty acids. It just looks like she has a short coat.
