not ending love Donating Member | For real I don't want to be rude, but if you just want a puppy to dress up and carry around in your bag then you are not ready for a PET. Dogs are like humans only more demanding because they can't think the way we do, you have chosen a yorkie because they are too cute, like everybody else in here but you have to think about all the money that this CHILD is gonna cost you, even if you gonna get it for free, again I don't wan to be mean but $100 for any puppy is Way too cheap and small yorkies are always expensive and like someone said before you really don't know how big they going to be and why would you do if you can carry your dog in your bag anymore? for real people should think better before getting a pet, i was looking up c/l before and i can't belive how many people are giving their dogs away just because the new place don't allow pets......if I have to move, first thing i going to make sure is that a cant take my children with me. to the op I really don't want to be mean or say that you going to be a bad owner, because i don't know you, I just tried to show you a fact and I apologize if I make you feel bad. |

| here you go. under $100 and fits in your purse. will never grow bigger. Yorkshire Terrier Stuffed Animal Plush "Daisy" at Animal World® if you want to get a dog, it's like adding a family member. i would not look for a family member in the discount/clearance bin. you need to do more research to understand the breed and what is involved in caring for a dog. they do require that you have money available to care for them in case they are injured. you don't sound ready yet to have a dog. please do research and ask many questions to learn and prepare for it. YT is a great place to look up info. and learn.

| Ashley, I too wanted a yorkie so bad, so I saved my money for several years ( yes thats right years !) as I saved the cost of yorkies kept going up. When I thought I had enough saved I contacted some show breeders. Their starting prices for pet stock was 2000.00 and up! I was shocked and disappointed. So I found a hobby breeder close by who was advertising puppies but they were all spoken for . I decided to give up and then this breeder called me a few months later and asked if I was still interested in a puppy. Well it turned out this tiny pup had a hernia and they would let her go for the low sum of.....1300.00! yicks! Needless to say I caved at the sight of this cute little ball of fur and forked out the cash.Little Remy is now 2 1/2 years old her vet bills total 3000.00 ,she has had surgery twice now to try and repair the hernia, but again it has torn open. I recently took her to surgen specialist to have her looked at ( this consultation cost 158.00) and if Remy has to have the special surgury with a mesh graft it will cost about 2200.00 and there are no garantees that the operation will be successful. We dont want to scare you or discourage you but you need to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Get yourself finacially secure with a good job get as much money saved as you can , dont worry yorkies will still around years from now and if you truly love yorkies you will still want one five years from now.By that time you will be prepared financially. Good luck and be patient Eileen P.S. Remy is the dog in my avatar |

| Welcome to YT I understand how it feels to really want a yorkie, but however much a yorkie baby costs, it is cheap compared to the cost of looking after it for the rest of it's life. People have already mentioned vets bills (which can run to thousands if, god forbid, your little one is really sick) and good quality food, there are also grooming costs (a neccessity with yorkies), toys, and clothing (if you want to dress your little one), the list goes on and on. Why not take a year or two to save, giving you a chance to thoroughly research the yorkie breed (you've joined the best site for it!) so that when the time comes to gt your baby you are fully prepared. I wish you lots of luck xxx

| First of all, welcome to YT! Second of all, I was in the same boat as you in the beginning of this whole thing. It was not that I could not afford to pay over 200 for a dog, it was the mindset of paying over 200 for a dog! I thought of all the things I could get for 500-1000+ dollars. But, when it all comes down to it the price tag reflects the good breeding and care of the puppies. Yorkies are not cheap, not now or ever. Paying the high cost prepares you for the cost you are going to have to put into her in the long run (clothes, vet, food, grooming, etc.) As much as we all want our little pampered babies we have to be willing to pay for them. If money is tight, find a reputable breeder who is willing to work out payments with you. My breeder took a deposit after Roxy was born and she gets delivered to me after 10 weeks when she is all paid for. I have a wonderful breeder who is very helpful and works with me. Just remember that the cost does not go down after she comes home. You have to continue to put money into her for her care. All else fails, you can go to petfinder.com and find rescues in your area that might have a low adoption feel. Also, check your local shelter, there are many small breed dogs there who need adopting. Finally, look in your classifieds of your local paper. I got my little chipin from a lady whos minipin and chi had puppies unexpectedly and she needed homes for them. Many times these puppies don't find homes and they go to kill shelters!! If I could adopt all the dogs in those shelters I would!!!!!!!! Anyways, long story short...I hope you find what youre looking for and you take heed at low cost yorkies (I learned through a bad breeder and loss of money that cheap yorkies are bad for the puppy and bad for you!)

| Sweet heart I have to tell you. If that's all the money you have available for your dog, don't even bother getting one. I paid almost $2,000 for Mia. after that another $500 right away with vet and everything she needs. The expense is ongoing. Plus the time I've had and still have to dedicate to this little baby to train her. I can make you a list so long that you would not finish reading. Please re-think your situation. |

| Hello and welcome to YT! I think you have found a great resource tool to learn about the Yorkie breed to help educate yourself about the financial commitment of owning ANY pet. In order for anyone to be a dog owner you need to be able to care for it appropriately after bringing him into your home. Please stick around and absorb as much knowledge as you can to help you become adequately prepared to be a pet owner. It is unrealistic to purchase any breed puppy from a breeder for $100 and in post cases you can not even adopt from a shelter for that amount either. In addition, to adopt from a reputable rescue you need to have excellent vet and other references as well as being in a position to provide for them as a life time commitment. I hope that the information that you have been given from your post will help to continue to educate yourself about pet ownership. There is so much to learn and prepare for before bring home a new member to your family. I'd like to encourage you to stick around and read and absorb all the knowledge that you can to make a well informed decision about the puppy that I can tell that you would so much love to own.

| Totally understand. I have ALWAYS wanted a Yorkie. I am 45 now and with my skin kids all grown up it was time for Mom to have a little indulgence. My fur baby was $800 and I have already spent several hundred on toys, crate, grooming supplies etc AND I have a list of "must haves" to get on our way to pick her up. Finally, I am at a point in my life where I can afford to spoil her rotten, give her the best food and care available AND devote all of the time she needs to be a well cared for part of my family. The time will come for you too. |
