Ashley, I too wanted a yorkie so bad, so I saved my money for several years ( yes thats right years !) as I saved the cost of yorkies kept going up. When I thought I had enough saved I contacted some show breeders. Their starting prices for pet stock was 2000.00 and up! I was shocked and disappointed. So I found a hobby breeder close by who was advertising puppies but they were all spoken for . I decided to give up and then this breeder called me a few months later and asked if I was still interested in a puppy. Well it turned out this tiny pup had a hernia and they would let her go for the low sum of.....1300.00! yicks! Needless to say I caved at the sight of this cute little ball of fur and forked out the cash.Little Remy is now 2 1/2 years old her vet bills total 3000.00 ,she has had surgery twice now to try and repair the hernia, but again it has torn open. I recently took her to surgen specialist to have her looked at ( this consultation cost 158.00) and if Remy has to have the special surgury with a mesh graft it will cost about 2200.00 and there are no garantees that the operation will be successful. We dont want to scare you or discourage you but you need to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Get yourself finacially secure with a good job get as much money saved as you can , dont worry yorkies will still around years from now and if you truly love yorkies you will still want one five years from now.By that time you will be prepared financially. Good luck and be patient
